Maylong M-150 universal android tablet

I've been reading this forum and have a question.

Does anyone LIKE their Maylong M-150?

Mine is on order and now I'm wondering if I made a mistake getting one. Wish I would have stumbled on to this forum first.

Thanks for the input.

Lionelman,

It really depends on what your intended use is for the tablet. If you plan on just surfing simple websites (largely text-based) or watch a few YouTube videos, I think you should be fine with the Maylong. However, if you plan on using it for other things (eg playing encoded avi's, streaming videos, etc.) then you may have problems.

Also, the "market" that they talk about on the Maylong is severely limited. It is a very stripped down version of the Android Marketplace from what I can tell. So, if you wanted to install more apps, then you would have to figure out a way to sideload them. I believe there is a way, but I wasn't in the mood or did not have the tenacity at this point to try to figure all of that out.

So, I hope that helps.

Walgreens was great about accepting the return. Just do it within their 30-day period and I think you should be fine. Also, make sure to keep all original packaging and materials.

Cheers!

Thanks Knightpawn,

Just got notifcation that it shipped today.

I'll post my comments.

Again, thanks for the info.

As I mentioned in my last post, I said I would express my opinion of the Maylong M150 when I received it. This is not a review as that’s been done a number of times.

I had a couple of things I wanted out of this unit.

  • Be able to connect to my WiFi in the garage (enjoying a brandy and cigar), on the deck and in the family room. It does.
  • I wanted to be able to connect to the internet. It does.
  • I wanted a book reader. It is.

The WiFi signal is a little weak and the battery life could be better. However, we’re talking about $100.00 unit.

I was/am considering an iPad. This unit will help me to make that decision. Will I really use it that much, etc.?

So, I’m keeping mine and I really do enjoy it.

Not sure about rooting the thing but time will tell.

Again, thanks to all for their info.

The touch screen does take a little getting use to but I haven't had to use the stylus yet and I have big fingers. :)

I think this was the right move for me so I could see if I really would use this type of computer.

Maylong M-150 Dropping WiFi

Hi, gang. Just got the M-150 yesterday and I find it to be quite the deal. If you don't need battery life (turn off the WiFi when u don't need it), it does a great many tasks. The ereader is awesome and I hooked the Kindle ap up to my Kindle account and downloaded from there. Very nice. The camera is a waste of space, no resolution and the processor is too slow for video. 3G comes built in, but why pay for it. The USB dongle works, but don't expect to connect to anything like a hard drive. Must not have enough address space, or something. When I tried, the M-150 kept rebooting. Works great with a flash drive, though.

My problem is that the WiFi drops on a regular basis, and the only way to get it back is to exit the ap and turn off the WiFi and turn it back on. Before I send it back and try again (3 more weeks of waiting?) I thought I'd place the problem out there. Any ideas?

Just a note to say that so far I haven't had any problems with the WiFi dropping out.

I've used it at the library and of course here at home in different locations. No problems.

Having said that, I'm not walking around with it.

I hope you will like it also.

Hey, it's not an iPad. On the other hand, it doesn't cost 900 bucks.

Also, how much is a Kindle? Somewhere around $130 - $140? In my estimation, this is a good book reader and offers a lot more.

Good luck with yours.

Thanks Dude! I'll keep everyone advised - and I plan on rooting it. :):)
