[MOD] Gingerbread 2.3 Keyboard w/ working Predictions

Amazing!

When this kb was first released for the DX I tried it.....FAIL!
Now, I've just tried this one with Fabs' mods....AMAZING!

I love Swype & rubbing it in iPhone owners faces but with this I think I will be using this one a bit more often. And I'm just as amazed at how the LCD density/reboots corrected the size too.

Thanks bro for your contributions to our Droid world.

EDIT: Guess I'll have to read through all the posts...after a reboot the kb is tiny again. :-(

EDIT 2: Glad I'm not the one suffering from "after reboot shrinkage"...lol! I'll keep the kb since I'm a swyper.

I've got this running on my Droid 1, using SPRecovery with the zip from droid-life. This... needs work, IMO.

Text selection is horrible, and when you hold-slide to make a selection (accents, numbers, etc) there comes even more issues. The time allowed for hold-sliding is WAY too short, and you need to make your moves super fast. Also, hold-sliding doesn't work like it did before. Now you hold-slide under where you're aiming, which makes it easier to see what you're doing, but not it's not intuitive at all, and totally different from how it worked before (hold-slide to the accent/# directly) which leads to more confusion. I also have the word replacement bug, typing "spat", typing a few more words, and then trying to change "spat" to "spit" results in "spspitat"

I appreciate the extra speed and features, but I sure hope these issues get fixed, or I'm going to have to try to figure out a way to roll the keyboard back when Gingerbread rolls around for the D1.

So you have the new text selection after installing the gingerbread keyboard? Does it look like this?

Works On HTC Desire USCC CDMA CyanogenMod-6.1. installed via ClockworkMod recovery 2.5.0.9
Do you have the word replacement bug? Ex: typing "spat", typing a few more words, and then trying to change "spat" to "spit" results in "spspitat"

I'm on CM 6.1. Maybe it makes a difference what ROM you are running?

Ok, maybe I'm missing something here, but this isn't installing for me. I tried using sprecovery and no go. So what's the trick to getting it installed?

So has anyone figured out a fix to stop the keyboard from getting small again when restarted?

Clockwork install help

Ok, I tried installing using clockwork and again no go
Try it again with CW following these steps:
Download the keyboard update and move it to the root of the SDCard via any File Manager or via USB connection to your PC

Reboot into Recovery mode

Select install from zip

Navigate to SDCard and select the keyboard update zip

Click Yes for install

You have to be on 2.2 for this to work. Are you?

Interesting. Big kudos points for the help. It worked like a charm when I put it on the root of the sd card. I had used recovery mode prior, but I installed it from the downloaded directory. Any thoughts on why it matters that it worked when on the root and not when in the downloaded directory. That was the only difference. Love the keyboard btw.

I'm glad things worked out. Don't know why the update has to be on the root of the SD
