so ive loaded the 2.3 gingerbread keyboard, and long story short, i hate it with a passion. i like to think that i can type rather proficiently with the on screen keyboard so i highly doubt my constant deleting and correcting words has something to do with me.

ANYWAYS...

the backup i made is from about a week ago is my most current and i have made a lot of theme changes since then. would someone be able to possibly link or email me the .apk for the 2.2 droid 1 keyboard. i would love you forever.

So I tried installing the zip you made for the blue version of the keyboard & it didn't work for me. Not sure if it's only for that certain phone but if you could... would you please edit the keyboard for the zip I have attached into the same color & same style I would really appreciate it. It's the only Zip file that works for me that I know of the keyboard works perfect for me I just don't like the orange on it haha. Also would you mind messaging me how you did it as well on changing the color and style. I have a mac so I really got no idea what it is that you did or how you even edited it, but I'd like to know how thank you.

Did you make sure that the zip file was on the root of the sd card? It doesn't work for some reason unless it's on the root of the sd card.

are you running a custom ROM? If so, you can just get into the zip file and drag out the apk for the keyboard from that. It's usually called something like LatinIME.apk, and then just use Root Explorer to put it into the /system/app folder.

Yes I put it on the root of the sd card but the spacebar & background was still orange (also when I pressed a letter no pop up for a blue color). When I typed a word it popped up in blue though for auto prediction. Also the letters are in grey they're not black. I also restored what I previously had I tried it that way & I got the same result. I'm kinda a newbie to all this so sorry for all the questions not sure if I'm doin' sumthin wrong. I'm currently using the sprint htc hero cyanogen rom 6.1 stable.

I know this is a droid forum so I think it's that's the reason why it's not working b/c I believe you customized it under the type of cellphone you have not sure but I just like the way the blue looks I've searched for other sites & no luck besides this one. Once again I'm a noob so sorry if I confused you with any questions I forget to mention I am using a sprint htc hero.

I installed the one you linked me on my Sprint Hero and it's working good minus the letter keys being gray & background being orange not sure if that's how it's suppose to be but thank you much props.

To say the tap to edit feature does NOT exist is wrong. On multitouch keyboard it DOE work perfectly, tap anywhere in the word, tap suggestion and boom, swapped. Reason double tapping and highlighting a word does not bring up suggestions, is because that is how you retype new word over old
