Motorola Android 2.2 Update Suspended

Don't get me wrong. Its noticeably faster than the FRG10 build. esp the browser. It seems you can pinch to zoom and scroll all around a webpage before its finished loading, whereas before trying to navigate a half-rendered webpage was choppy. I've also noticed speed increases when changing settings, and there seems to be better RAM management as I can now load 3 media heavy webpages (engadget, gizmodo, ign) and navigate to another app and comeback to see the webpages still loaded. Its just that it get way hotter than it ever has before. Don't know what it could be, maybe the kernel packaged with FRG22 runs hot?

Ok. Found the problem for the battery. If you have a task killer, uninstall it. They're not froyo friendly.

I've been using System Panel Lite with BB 0.4 no problem, maybe it isn't stock FroYo friendly, but i don't think it's ALL FroYo...

You should read the recently released Android 2.2 User Manual, issued by Google. They distinctly say that you should NOT use any type of task/resource killer. Using one can drain the battery much faster, kill important system-related tasks resulting in instability, or use more resources by restarting certain apps that need to be open.

Think of it like an anti-virus on a PC. If you have one, you're protecting yourself. If you have multiple ones, they will often cause conflicts with each other and slow down or crash your PC.

Android has its own task killer built in, the best one there is, and using any other in conjunction with it can cause a lot of unneeded issues.

What's funny is the earlier Froyo builds didn't make the phone hot. It wasn't till I downloaded FRG01B a few weeks ago did I notice the heat. I figured it was my overclock that I did at the same time. Interesting to hear stock droids are heating up too.

I should also note it only appears to be the battery getting hot, looking at SetCPU the processor is nice and cool.

Is there anyway to use the built in tethering in 2.2 without paying? It used to work on my rooted FRG01B droid, but not anymore. PDAnet is ok, but no HTTPS unless you buy.

I got my update OTA yesterday morning. (FRG01B). I have not noticed any real problems as of yet. When VZW does the small release of the OTA don't they wait a day or two after the "first push" then continue with the process.
I guess did anyone get the update OTA today? That would answer if anything was halted.

but this thread is about FRG10 anyway isnt it?

It's suppose to be, but it's been frequently going off topic. Had someone last night trying to do fix an issue with his Droid heree, should have been in the Rescue Squad area.

The main thing is this. We don't have the link up anymore but I'm not going to lie to you, the link is still available. If you want to go give FRG10B a try then by all means do it. I don't know about the "bugs" that are in there but I found it to be a much better build then 2.1.
