Motorola Droid Bionic Release Date?

I've been seeing a lot less Blunderbolt commercials on TV in the last week or so...and a lot MORE commercials for the Dinc. Anyone else notice this? Saw a Droid X commercial as well. So is VZ now starting to pump their old stock, or do they now know the Blunderbolt will actually be released Feb 10, like they originally leaked, but just not THIS Feb 10? And all this Q1, Q2 B.S.- does anyone know if this is based on the Julian calendar, or when VZ's "fiscal year" starts? Some companies start their "fiscal year" in May, f'rinstance...

The last "rumor" I heard is Q2...which constituted April, May, June...and I heard late June. I hope that is incorrect...I hope it was just an attempt to make people by the iPhone so they didn't have to wait, but we will see.

Where did you hear that Poly? It's really hard for me to take anyone seriously as everything is just rumors. Latest "rumor" I've heard is 3/24 based on the patterns of releases by VZW recently (iphone, 2 wks later xoom, 2 wks later ipad2, 2 wks later is 3/24 for TB?) I want to actually hear a statement from Verizon.

Is there a more specific launch date going around for the Bionic other than just in "Q2"? If the Bionic beats the TB out I will get that, no question.

idk i really wanna see unboxing videos of the Bionic first. I would love sticking to the whole "droid" but man they made a fugly phone with the bionic haha

I have disagree that the bionic is ugly. Of course this is an issue of personal preference, so we don't have to agree.
I am curious to know what you find ugly about it.

Spec sheets are more then numbers

I'll wait with you Poly. The Thunderbolt is already old news at this point. The only thing even making me consider picking it up is that it is HTC. If they would have released in 6 months ago like it seemed possible at one point, I would have been all over it! You snooze, you lose. I waited this long, I can wait another 6 months and get something that won't be obsolete by year end. I mean, the Thunderbolt is essentially the Evo with a newer generation hardware and slightly improved specs. Sure, maybe its benchmarked faster and all thatgood stuff, but it is essentially the same phone. That whole "this is the phone after your dream phone" is just arrogant crap. This WAS my dream phone half a year ago. The one after my current dream phone is now a quad-core with over 1G of RAM and a front facing camera that isn't just described as "VGA".

Sorry, that was the tip of an entire rant that I'm trying to hold back. Been quiet about this for awhile. Quit honestly, by time the Bionic comes out I might decide to wait for another phone because I still have a few qualms about the specs. Like the whole RAM issue.
Seriously though, VGA camera and only 500 mb RAM? Wtf.

So if you do your research, you would know that Motorola decided to use dual-channel ram in the Bionic which should prove to be as fast as the Atrix's 1gb of single-channel ram and actually faster when running multiple apps simultaniously. As for the VGA camera, it's just the front facing camera for video chat... You have an 8 megapixel camera for taking photos to send and print at full res. VGA is more than capable of producing a clear crisp image on your buddy's cell phone screen. Why put a 3 megepixel camera on the Bionic when it will be showing on cell phone screens that are .5 megapixels?

Unfortunately "research" shows that the Atrix has DDR2 ram also. This has been discussed, over discussed, researched, and proven. I really wish the Atrix and Droid Bionic could be the same phone for BOTH carriers :(

Bionic or DX2

If it's going to take so long for the Bionic to release, why not wait for the DX2 or even the Droid 3? I know the Bionic is 4g but that's not affecting me at all. No 4g in the area. Just curious if I should wait till the DX2 or D3 comes out. If this should've been posted somewhere else, I apologize.

I agree with you totally except that both phones have DDR But as a phone the Atrix can not use the full 1g of DDR Ram. In order to enjoy the full 1G DDR Ram you need the laptop dock.. So I will choose the Bionic over the Atrix. Plus the Atrix is on AT&T not that good of a service here. Verizon has the better network here. Also who really is going to use facetime all the time. As long as my screen is clear and is 1080p who I am viewing who cares how the other person is viewing you. I will not be using it that much if at all.

My apologies, you're right. I had read an article earlier this week saying the Atrix was going to use single channel ram. I could not find it again to quote. Most if not all other phones are still using DDR ram while these two Motorola superphones will be using the more powerful, less power hungry DDR2 ram.

This link talks about it some: Motorola Droid Bionic Has

honestly the whole dual core specs are awesome but can anyone agree with me the Bionic is just plain ugly :)

I personally don't like the look of it, but I don't think it's ugly and I'm still considering it. The only dual-core phones that please me aesthetically right now are the LG Optimus 2x and the Galaxy S 2.

I really hope this isnt true since my droid is getting harder and harder to use. If it is true i am over the thunderbolt.

Are you rooted, and have you considered it if not? I was feeling the same exact way until I decided to root with Peter Alfonso's GPA12 a month ago. It's like an entirely new phone.

You guys really think the Bionic looks THAT ugly? It looks plain, but I wouldn't say it looks bad. I think smartphones look 80% alike to begin with.

Really, I'm a specs man. I would carry around a puke-colored brick if the technology justified it.

I concur. It's black with curves, quite simple really. I'm interested in the opinions of those that think it's ugly.

Specs > looks...mostly.

I just think the back looks plain and cheap to be honest. I Just think its one of the "super" phones for Motorola and yea it has awesome specs but honestly looks plain like my omnia useto look. Which is cheap And yea maybe I'm being picky considering this thing will be a beast but I mean were gonna be paying 250+ for this. I dunno maybe it will grow on me when newer pics And videos emerge

I can see why'd you say that.
Maybe they are figuring in that so many people cover their phones up with cases that they don't put much into the awesomeness of the shell.
I dunno.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it

i don't think it's ugly, per se. but it certainly isn't distinctive. the D1/2, the DX, the iPhones - they are distinctive and set themselves apart. i know it has nothing to do with functionality, but if i'm going to have a beast of a superphone, and pay through the nose for it, then i want it to stand apart both in functionality and appearance. if i'm going to pay for a BMW or Mercedes, i don't want it to be packaged in the body of a Gremlin. maybe i'm just overly vain...

I just joined the Nebraska Droid group, and then I saw your post!
Go Huskers!

And I would agree that it does not have as unique a looking as the D1 or 2.
