Motorola Droid Bionic Release Date?

I'll wait with you Poly. The Thunderbolt is already old news at this point. The only thing even making me consider picking it up is that it is HTC. If they would have released in 6 months ago like it seemed possible at one point, I would have been all over it! You snooze, you lose. I waited this long, I can wait another 6 months and get something that won't be obsolete by year end. I mean, the Thunderbolt is essentially the Evo with a newer generation hardware and slightly improved specs. Sure, maybe its benchmarked faster and all thatgood stuff, but it is essentially the same phone. That whole "this is the phone after your dream phone" is just arrogant crap. This WAS my dream phone half a year ago. The one after my current dream phone is now a quad-core with over 1G of RAM and a front facing camera that isn't just described as "VGA".

Sorry, that was the tip of an entire rant that I'm trying to hold back. Been quiet about this for awhile. Quit honestly, by time the Bionic comes out I might decide to wait for another phone because I still have a few qualms about the specs. Like the whole RAM issue.
Seriously though, VGA camera and only 500 mb RAM? Wtf.

Too late to save it...

I think its coming out Feb. 24th...

Next signature, please?
Today, we are hearing thunderbolt's release date to be in first half of the year, or sometime in the 2nd quarter.
Well, if that is the case Thunderbolt just became Blunderbolt.

I'll be waiting on the Bionic or Droid X2!

The latest Best Buy sales paper, that will be in this Sunday's paper, shows the TB (again)??? Misprint or will it come out this week?

The whole purpose of the front camera is for video chat right? If so, then what would be the purpose of a front camera that EXCEEDS the resolution of the screen on the receiving end and the limitations of the data connection?

It sounds like Motorola made a logical conservation of cost and resources in an area where it made sense. I'd have to imagine that a more powerful camera would not only be more expensive, but also use more power AND provide lower image quality since you are trying to pack more pixels into the same physical foot print.

As far as the RAM goes, that may or may not be a reasonable complaint. Has any one made the case in the context of the actual memory usage requirements of Android apps? This is not a rhetorical question as I really would like to know. You could argue that 2GB would be even better than 1GB but if there is no actual real world application for that extra memory then it really has no value other than making a spec sheet look more impressive. If there really is an obvious need for this much memory, then I would agree that it is a big negative to only have 512mb.

Well, there are couple phones out now with 512meg.. The Dinc is one, maybe the D2? So do Dinc users complain about space limitations? I don't know, I am asking.

So. Verizon has delayed the Thunderbolt AGAIN, saying it'll be released "end of Q2 2011". I think the Bionic just upped its expected sales figures, no?

That is, unless the Bionic faces similar delays.

really!?? link to this??

wow I recently switched over from wanting to get the Bionic to now the TB

honestly the whole dual core specs are awesome but can anyone agree with me the Bionic is just plain ugly :)

Where did you hear that Poly? It's really hard for me to take anyone seriously as everything is just rumors. Latest "rumor" I've heard is 3/24 based on the patterns of releases by VZW recently (iphone, 2 wks later xoom, 2 wks later ipad2, 2 wks later is 3/24 for TB?) I want to actually hear a statement from Verizon.

Is there a more specific launch date going around for the Bionic other than just in "Q2"? If the Bionic beats the TB out I will get that, no question.
