Motorola Droid Case Reviews

Received my case today, It fits beautiful. A hard but flexible plastic.
It has a rubbery feel to it. It snaps on an off quickly and feels tight
in place. The finish is a mat black, and very nice for $8 total.

I just purchased this case/cover should arrive
Monday the 23rd. It was only $8 including shipping.
I will let you know how it works later this week.

Review: Black Rubber Finish Hard Case for Motorola Droid

In follow-up, I uploaded some pictures of the case, off of e-Bay, apologies ahead of time for the picture quality (and the dust :) ), obviously not a professional photographer, but anyway, you can get some idea for the fit and finish.

These are on Picassa, hopefully I was able to get the settings right so people can see them:

If you look closely, you can see that the rubber coating material, which is flat black, is spayed onto the plastic. The unit ends up looking kind of a stealth type black, not an unpleasing effect. On my unit, here and there they did not get the edges fully covered, but you have to be pretty close to see it. The cutouts for the components clear fine. All the corners are pretty well protected, but the screen area remains open, bottom shiny bits, etc. Case is pretty light, so not much added weight. I have noticed that some of the other hard cases are lower in the back/menu/home/search button area, I suppose so that they're easier to reach, but I have to say the ridge down there can make it easier to find the buttons, and probably is a bit more protective, so hard to say what's the best approach.

This case looks nice, I like that it has the openings for the buttons, the VZW one covers the buttons, I didn't like that.

Thanks for the pics pwjone1. I cant wait to get it. My 4 year old likes the phone too. She is not quite as gentle.

Thanks everyone. The pictures of the ebay case were great, PJ_ED and and pwjone1. I just bought the ebay case. It's not the exact case I want, but it looks good, and the exact case I want doesn't exist yet. And it's only $10.00! I don't even have my Droid yet, but I'm getting accessories.

On waterproof cases -- I'm a big fan of aquapac.

Aquapac US Store

You can also get their stuff on Amazon. I ordered from them even before they had a US store. They make good quality products and are easy to deal with. Prices are good and the plastic cases are vey sturdy and really are waterproof.

Now I'm wondering -- I'll post on another thread. I didn't want to put a screen protector over the screen, but if I did that I could shove it in my bag without worrying to much about the screen, given that it will be in a case.

Thanks again. This is like the old days of Palm, when people spent untold hours messing around with their devices to get them just exactly right. I like it!

This is my first post on the forums! so hi to all. I'll be getting my Droid in one week, first smartphone ever...this week like feel like an eternity!

I've noticed a lot of people wanting pouchs due to the docking conflicts with actual cases...I FEEL THE PAIN! I couldn't find online any cases that suited my tastes (I'm picky, what can I say?) The one suede pouch out there seems to look pretty nice...if I could remember the link I'd post it but I'm sure some have seen it.

I decided to put my creative mind to use, since I'm an art major and all...and I did some searching around and sketching out and decided that it wouldn't be too hard to craft your own pouch! Get your girlfriend/wife/friends/mom to help or do it yourself!

I've bought a slightly thick black fabric for the outside and a soft, silky red for the inside to keep the screen safe. Also, just by a little padding (batting?) and put in between the two fabric layers. Sew it up! I'll use velcro to attach the flap because I do want a flap over mine. I hope this gives some ideas! and Christmas is coming up soon...just buy enough fabric and knock a few out, I'm sure people would love them.

Here is an idea and pictures, I kind of like the rough edges of this pouch but I'll be flipping mine inside-out to have smooth edges. Happy Thanksgiving as well!

Beautiful macro shots here!! Kudos! What camera are you using?

Here's a quick rundown of two slipcases I've tried for the Motorola DROID.

This first one I bought at BestBuy for about $15, a Lowepro device pouch.

It works OK, its well padded but as you can see it has a flat oval bottom which adds a ton of extra bulk. Overall I don't like it much so after a few recommendations I bought this next one:

G1 OEM case. Purchased on Ebay from global_dl (OEM PLANET) for $3.95 with free shipping! NEW OEM T-Mobile HTC G1 Google Phone Pocket Case Pouch - eBay (item 110455540978 end time Dec-08-09 21:05:32 PST)

I have to say its freaking awesome, best bang for the buck for sure. Check out how well it fits.

I put the DROID in screen down to make use of the wider part of the case and I feel its safer in my pocket than the glass facing out anyway. The G1 case doesn't add a lot of bulk as you can see and it seems to have enough padding to prevent the glass from cracking during a reasonable drop. Partially open sides make it really easy to grab the DROID to pull it out and an added bonus is that they allow for the DROID to be hooked up to a charger.

Thanks to anyone who suggested this case before, I'm very happy with it. :icon_ banana: :icon_ banana: :icon_ banana:

Can someone who bought a Sena Elega post a picture of the droid in the case?
I really want to buy the nice Baby Blue one, but I want to see how it fits.
What type of clib does it have? Is it bulky?

"Leather-like" hard case

I just picked up the "leather-like" 2-pc hard case. It actually fits snug on the phone and gives the phone a more "secure" hold as opposed to the "slick" feel. The case does add some resistance when sliding out the phone to use the physical keyboard. Maybe this will get better when it wears a bit.

I also picked up the Ghost Amour kit which I will try sometime in the next few days to see how it works. Its probably a good guess that the hard case will fair better if you accidently drop the Droid (god forbid!!).

More to follow in the next few days...

Check out page 9 of this thread. I posted several pictures and a review of my Sena Elega. Great holster and it fits great! Probably the nicest leather holster I have ever purchased. Clip is a leather covered slip over style. So far it is wearing very good...very tight and the leather isn't wearing off. I honestly don't know what they will do to make this case specifically for the droid other than put it in a different box. It fits great.

Droid Case

If you don't want to wait for a case specifically made for the Droid, I had an original Motorola Q with a Fortte case and my droid fits into it perfect. I was thrilled to find out there was no need to buy another case. Here is the one I have: Leather case for Motorola Q Lateral Pouch. If you click on the Personalize link they have a ton of different colors and options and build to your order.

Another way to save if you had a moto Q or other moto phone using mini usb prior to your Droid, you can get a micro to mini USB adaptor and reuse all your previous chargers. So no need to buy extra charger for office or car charger, just get the adaptor. These adaptors are all over the net, here's one from Amazon for $1.27
