Motorola Droid Maintenance Release Prelude to Android 2.1

Geez .. you guys, if you're like me you already have the launcher, gallery, music player and clock from 2.1 installed (mine is not rooted)...
The only thing that 2.1 will do for me is give me smoothness and the option for live wallpapers. I'm already ready for post 2.1 install sadness

My only question will be this one: when I get the OTA update notification, then that means it already has the update.zip on the SD in downloads right?
Because my plan will be:
Receive 2.1 notification (not this maint release)
Remove the installed 2.1 apps first.
Grab copy of the update.zip to throw here
A reboot and then allow it to update me.
Sound good?

Nothing here out in CA, sitting here in this crazy storm that were not used to being patient... yeah right, patient my a**.
I was planning the same thing. I would only add the suggestion that you check to be sure you don't have an older update.zip on your SD card. Then you can be sure when you have a new one.

Where in cali are you posted jordan? Im over here near sacramento waiting for the update that might not come for a while

I'm down here in SoCal... sitting through the tornado and storm. My GF is actually in Sacramento today and tomorrow.

Obviously, for whatever reason they have stopped pushing the maintenance update. Probably to make tease us and make us suffer. j/k.
Well, 2.0.1 is working fine for me so I think I'll just keep using it and not worry about this update. It's like watching a pot boil, and believe me people that pot may steam but you won't see that 2.1 anywhere near 1/22. Not if they have to push this maintenance update first anyway.
