Motorola Droid Pro

boot loader means a no go for me. the original droid will probably be the last moto phone i own until the boot loader issue is cracked.

Was interested in this rumored phone till I got an X. Although I did read somewhere that it's supposed to have a 1.3GHz processor and slider keyboard. I don't know about you all but I much prefer a full touchscreen phone to a slider.

The lack of a physical keyboard is the reason I would never get an X. I can't type for crap on touchscreens.

Same here. The Droid physical keyboard is working fine once I got used to it. Hate the virtual keyboard on the Droid and the X. I'll have to try the one on the Droid 2 later this week, but I still have 11 months before I can upgrade. By that time the Droid 3 or the Pro will be out.

Im probably not going to get the pro since its less than expected and isnt worth breaking my contract for, it doesnt end until next november (2011). The phones that come out then are going to be ridiculous!

I'm in the same boat. I think I'll just sit back and see what's coming over the horizon. Holiday Season 2011 should prove interesting.

Wow, front facing camera, about time. Where's my vido output? Physical keyboard ooooo yea. I think I just might get this, only if some dork gets it rooted! Haha.

Yeah unless that 1.3ghz is dual core, and it benchmarks much higher then what we currently have, probably will pass.

I have a large deposit with Verizon, and I figured once I got that back I'd go ahead, cancel my contract (have the $170 ETF) and get the greatest phone but over-clocking and rooting really have breathed new life into my phone.

All LTE phones are 59.99/month for data or just the Droid Pro?

That is crazy high!

By the way, the news section says 1.3 Ghz, 4" display, and World Phone and that the source in Verizon basically confirmed it, ETA Novemeber.

I am liking 1.3 Ghz better due to battery life and happy the display is 4" -- hopefully it is exactly 4" as I think that is perfect. Keyboard or not -- I will be happy.

I am just worried on the price for data?

The 59.99 for data that they are refering to is for the air cards and mifi, not phones

It might be worth it if it could realistically replace my at-home cable broadband connection.

Bingo....I'll be looking at that very closely, although I wonder if VZW might not do something to crack down on the "free" tethering when LTE comes out.

On a side note, the fact that VZW/Moto claim the Droid can't tether means they can't ever charge you for it! Right, how could they charge/accuse you for something they themselves acknowledge the phone cannot do?

But if the rumors hold true and a November launch for the Pro comes to fruition, it should drop right around the time of your annual upgrade. You wouldn't have to break your contract (just re-up) or purchase the phone at full price. That's what I plan on doing. Then I'll be due for another annual upgrade in November 2011 when there are sure to be some great phones out. You don't get the new every two with annual upgrades, but to me it's worth forgoing that to get the latest and greatest at a subsidized price.

My sentiment exactly. As long as they keep honoring the Annual Early Upgrade Program those of us that got the Droid last November should be in store for the "hot" device of the year to hopefully be released each year before Xmas and just have to pay the promo price to stay current. Therefore my plan is to pass on the X and 2 and wait to see what the Pro turns out to be.

sweeeeet :yr1: that video is quite reassuring, don't tell some people though (that the DX is not the best)

as it has been said by many others, I cannot wait for my MoDroPro, it will be my gift to myself, Locked Bootloader or not.

I had a chance to play with the Droid 2 yesterday and the Physical Keyboard blows the Droid Classic Keyboard out of the water.

Sad to say but the Original Droid is very soon to be obsolete, and I believe the Droid Pro is going to set a new standard for Mobile Devices

The only news about the Pro will pertain to that boot loader. I already know its going to have an awesome keyboard and powerful specs, thats a given.

The Droid 1 may be obsolete, but its open bootloader and extremely robust dev community are going to ensure that it kicks around for a long long time. And once you've tasted built from source roms, you never want to go back to anything stock.
