Motorola Droid Pro

The Droid 1 may be obsolete, but its open bootloader and extremely robust dev community are going to ensure that it kicks around for a long long time. And once you've tasted built from source roms, you never want to go back to anything stock.
True, I have been Rooted since January and have tasted a little bit of everything and I cannot stand the stock look on the D1, the stock DX looks a bit better, and the D2 even better, Root Access is a must and will be easily accessed, but Custom ROM's are are a different story, believe it or not it will be refreshing to not always be on edge waiting for the next release of this or that, and having to reflash and back-up and reboot, it can get quite overwhelming and I have spent many a Saturdays fixing one little mistake I made trying something new only to find myself right back where I was before I even touched my Droid for that day :icon_evil:

Granted the Original Droid is and always will be the Best Device there ever was, and I am proud to be a day one owner, but there is going to be much more to come and the locked/unlocked bootloader is not my biggest concern anymore

Darn it! I wish they would release it I'm getting impatient lol, thank goodness for all you folks who are motivating me to keep waiting! I still need to go check out the droid 2.

JohnKyu, be careful...I went and checked out the D2 yesterday and the temptation was great...may the Force be with you ;)

Hmmm, some rumors that IPhone is going to Sprint, they have 4G so that might very well be reality.

I'm still skeptical of IPhone on VZW. VZW doesn't need the IPhone and they aren't going to pay Jobs' price nor put up with his BS.

Sprint, on the other hand, could really use the IPhone.

I think IPhone fanboys are going to be disappointed when it goes head-to-head with the android phones. Just think about it from the carrier perspective: with tiered plans (think higher data usage with flash), and also tethering options, they stand to make more money on an android user! Given that, what phones do you think their reps will be pushing? Imagine that pitch: "for $300, you can get the IPhone, or for $200 you can get one of these android phones which are actually more powerful and customizable"

The greater majority of iPhone zombies are dedicated to Steve, not AT&T. Offer them a service provider that actually offers service and in areas AT&T can only dream of and they will drop AT&T, sell their iPhones on eBay and jump to Verizon in a second.

I doubt 95% of iPhone users would ever jump to an Android, Windows or RIM platform even if someone pointed a gun at them. They remain faithful to Stevie. However, I do believe there are quite a few who would jump to the iPhone if it was offered on Verizion (I personally know two who are drooling at the thought of Verizon getting the iPhone.)

Personally, I would not, I can't stand anything that says Apple; hell I eat tons of fruit but I won't even eat an apple. But I know a few that I work with who would jump on Stevie's iPhone bandwagon in a second if Verizon offered it.

There are large areas of this country where you cannot get AT&T 3G coverage but you can get Verizon 3G. Even though this is not what a person would consider to be a Large network of people, it is still a large area of coverage.

Then there are the people who travel and are fed up with AT&T's lack of coverage in the USA versus Verizon, or even Sprint.

Your right, Nerd are faithful to their products... I know i am, im faithful to Android. NO CHEATING AT ALL, Not even with an iPod. I hate proprietary stuff.....Itunes is a bunch of bs, if i buy an "music device" it will actually play my mp3's, And it wont go through any crap that company requires. i havent wasted anything on apple, they can go have fun trying to control everything. I wont be apart of it.
I hope VZ doesnt offer anything from apple... Just saying, Steve needs to stop trying to rule the world....

woah woah woah.
i was a complete iPhone supporter. since the day it came out and i waited in line for 14 hours to get it. then 8 hours for the 3G. then i had the 3GS. why? because i love apple products, and even though Jobs can be an evil dictator at times, the quality of their products is great for me. so i got the iphone.

was stationed in the middle of the desert where AT&T isnt, and i had to drop the iPhone. thought no phone would compare until i stumbled upon the Motorola Droid. now i swear by it. it's mostly personal preference, but new operating systems are like little brothers... they learn from watching their big brothers fail.

on a lighter note... DROID PRO TALK, HOMIES.
i cant wait! i really hope this thing lives up to the speculation & currently i'm holding out for it.

I'm with ya on the Droid Pro.

My wife came home last night and told me that she lost her phone (it was my LG Dare that she took when I got my Droid) so we left for BestBuy to get a new one. After months of trying to convince her to get an Android (she was smart-phone resistant) she decided I was right and ended up with the Droid 2. She was thinking of letting me get it and she would take the D1, but I told her to keep it because I wanted to wait on the Pro or something else better come tax time. Plus I couldn't for the life of me remember @ the store if the boot loader was cracked.
So I'll deal with the few more months of Droid envy for the anticipation of the Pro down the road. Besides, now she owes me BIG TIME! And that's never a bad thing, right? :)

On the Droid Pro, I really hope they get the headphone jack right. If it starts crackling and being silly after a few months, I'm gonna get aggressive.

Jesus, +1000 on this. This is my #1 annoyance with listening to music on my droid. Most times I just listen through the speaker since it gets annoying hearing all the crackling from the headphone jack port.

Does anyone know if it's been fixed in the Droid 2 and Droid X?

I havent heard crackling on my X, I never heard it on the Droid either...lol Granted I got my Droid in April of this year, it was also made in Mar or April of this year. It could be like how they shipped some Droids with raised keys on the keyboard. Maybe phones built later have hardware issue fixed.

Hmm maybe they changed it, mine is still from nov of last year. It was always crackling it was just overly sensitive to the jack movement if I twist it even the slightest bit it'll crackle and the sound would get lower, I have to twist it again to get it to go back to normal.

I can find out Monday when I steal the wife's D2 to play with it again. :)
