Mysterious Device Now With November 23 Launch date

Yes it makes a huge difference. Use a G2 and then any VZW device, youtube alone makes it worth it...

PSphone would suck for internet play over 3g, it would be awesome on LTE or 3g+....

Also, I don't think the data rates will be any more. I assume that it'll be the same price that 3g is now, and 3g "smartphone" plans will drop to the price of feature phone data plans.

Well, I suppose it depends on how you use your phone. I have no interest in most games, or online gaming, or tethering for gaming, or Youtube (which does work perfectly over my 3G phone 99% of the time.

I use my phone more as an information gathering device, life organizer. For my needs, 3G will do. Now don't get me wrong, when my area gets 3G (not for a while I believe), and I am holding a DINC HD and have yet another upgrade, I will look. But I don't view it as a deal breaker. Besides, it is still new, unproven technology, possibly a battery drain, and I believe will be more $$$.

If that's all you use your phone for then why have an android phone at all?? Seriously, you should have a BB on Cricket and really save some $$$.

I'm not trying to be an ass, but you're arguing against yourself somewhat.

Miami, can you please let the VZW people on the call tonight know they have customers that are going to change carriers soon if they don't give us some info! I mean the only phones they have announced are low level devices. Us hardcore Android users (future Android user for me) need something better than a freakin Motorola Citrus. I'm on VZW month to month and I'm really close to switching this week if we cant get anything.

I'm sure they are gonna rush to release info because a few people are gonna switch carries if they don't get info today. Trust me they could care less. For every one they lose, they will gain five when it is finally announced and released.

hey just curious, 2 questions. Is there a time for this conference call Miami? And when its over will you post an update even if its saying "cant say anything today"?

Good luck tonight!

Deviant

yes and yes....around 9 eastern and as soon as i can if i get anything new or permissions to finally drop my info....
nice to c u back miami even if u cant say nothing its good that ur around in the forum again!!!! stick around this time :)

I bet VZW will offer money/incentives to keep quiet and not leak anything :(

They are desperate to get rid of their Incredibles and don't want this cutting into sales.

No I don't think so... here VZW gave me the info to start with. Even came over and brought one with them for me to see.....

This seems more like someone may have jumped a bit quick and realised they could get in trouble. Let me take a crack at it again tonight

awesome, that sounds like a plan.. at the very least like that one guy said (and i believe you acknowledged) just pop in here when your done to let us know if you got anything new or not.. sure we can assume if we dont see you but it would be a nice plus to get that from you at least.. thanks :)

So 10 dollars a month will keep you using a much slower internet connection? Using dial-up at home would save you even more!

If you spend that extra 10 dollars on 4g and then 20 on wifi ap, you ger super fast home internet for cheaper than you pay now, and super fast internet on your phone....

30 bucks extra saves you 50 off of your home service, that ends up saving you money....

Well for one, I believe Android doesn't support Ad-Hoc connections. So things like Xbox 360s and PS3 wouldn't be able to use it, so you probably would still have to have a home service. Another thing is, Verizon will most likely cap it so no unlimited and you're going to be paying extra for 4G even if you don't have it and wont for a while. So yea, it probably is smarter not to waste your money on a LTE phone just yet.

Sprint charges a premium for 4G and extra $10 a month...

I am guessing VZW will raise it (even if only $10) some, now I could be wrong

Got to add my two cents. Sprint charges you
An extra $10 a month even when you don't live in a 4g network area. Also I was at the sprint store yesterday and over heard one of the reps telling two new customers that the $10 was not for the premium data but for the faster processor in the phone. I almost went off on her. I mean Really you Can't charge someone a monthly fee for hardware, you buy the hardware and the service, but you only get charged for the service. It's a one time fee for the hardware. That's totally ridiculous.something that is not a service.
Sorry I hard to vent this here but...I feel better now.
Thanks for stopping buy Miami. I am glad you could help elevate some of our misconceptions. Now the only problem is I want the droid X for Chevy's new SS Rom on it and I want this New phone as well. Just two weeks ago I decided to get the X over the Inc. I should keen how to port his roms to the Inc.HD Haha.
Trying out Sprint for a month. Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk. 4G is pointless when you don't live in one of the few available network areas.

And sarcasm is suuuuch a great argument form.

yea its always nice to be informed :) and the SLCD is a really nice screen prolly right under SAMOLED in my opinion?? and HTC always seems to deliver!!:icon_ banana:

Now for all of you wantig LTE...think about the why since the "prmium" data comes with "tierd" data or could. Would it make that much idfference if you had to pay higher rates? for me 3G is fine I have no issues with what I get now

Gotta agree with you there Miami. 3G does fine for me. Even though I am in one of the markets that LTE will hit first, I am not that excited about it. And I am even less excited about paying a premium for it.

I agree with this, too. After all, the rule of thumb is to never purchase an inaugural device when it's new technology. Gonna be pretty hard to do with an upgrade waiting, though.

Y gain 5 when u can gain 8 or 10.. there are several ppl in this forum like that.. and thats just in here think about all the other ppl not in here .. im in the same boat rockin sprint:icon_ banana: so as VZW they can look at it many dif ways

My D1 feels ancient. If I get the DI HD, I'm gonna keep it for a least a year to a year and a half.

I'd like more ram over all else. More power is good, too. True HDMI out....Those are probably upgrades of significance to me. A better camera would be nice, too. And I do care about a bigger screen, but not that much. It's just a bunch of marginal upgrades that won't improve my user experience all that much.

I haven't seen anything that would prevent me from waiting 6 more months or so for LTE. Now, if LTE wasn't coming to my city on launch then I'd probably look to exercise my 1-yr early upgrade when I get it first of the year.

Well, it'd be a huge update for my day to day use in multiple ways.

1.) I am a student and constantly check my phone during the school day and usually by the time it's over, my phone is dead. This could be mitigated with FastBoot in the new version of HTC Sense. Instead of keeping my phone on all day and checking it between classes and texting in between classes, I could turn it off to save battery and turn it on after class is over and since it turns on almost instantly, it'd save me battery.

2.) Big screen, easy to type on for big hands. I have big hands. ;D

3.) Everything being fluid and quick making it easy to get what I want done in a flash.

4.) Just plain awesome. ;)

Ok, I also use lots of audio streaming (Pandora, Wunderadio, Listen), remote desktop, and lots of other things that are not covered in the Blackberry App Store. Their phones are ugly, their OS is ugly and I like to customize my experience. A Blackberry or any other smartphone OS can not handle my 10 or 12 widgets. It does not offer free turn by turn. Should I go on? Or are you satisfied that I qualify to use Android despite only needing 3G.

I did say I do NOT want LTE, I want to surf the web at a faster pace, etc.... but its not a deal breaker.

Yes it does support ad-hoc connects. I have connected to my laptop and xbox. And if you go over 5 gbs they will look at you...but they really don't do anything. Now if you go to like 10gbs then youll be really looked at. VZW will be watching you LOL.

Hello All,

Just wanted to say Hi to a group I've been following for a little over a week.

I'm currently a non-droid owner. My upgrade is due in January and I cannot wait to wrap my hands and mind around the possibilities of a new android handset. :) I would have become a droid owner much sooner, but an ex-girlfriend entered us into a new two year with a BlackBerry almost two years ago and I feel like I deserve a new every two!

Nice to meet you all!

you are the primary line correct? if not you may have an issue if you dont switch the primary number.. no biggy just a side note..

i think by you saying you deserve a new every 2 you already know this but you can upgrade your phone after just 1 year on a 2 year contract.. just no new every 2..

good luck and if your waiting til January make sure you just wait for a dual core phone, mise well after that long of waiting :P
