Had a really good experience with Gameloft support. Was unable to install the APK for Sandstorm and successfully run it (got a DRM error everytime) on Froyo, after having previously used it on Cyanogenmod 5.0.7.1; so I emailed them.
"Had to do a data wipe on my phone, thus necessitating a re-install. Re-installing APK originally downloaded results in a "This is not an original copy of Modern Combat: Sandstorm" error message. Redownloading from original SMS link and reinstalling causes the same issue. The only way I can get the game to run is by placing my phone into "Airplane Mode" - however, I cannot play online multiplayer this way.
Having to perform an occasional data wipe is a part of owning any smartphone; why is there no easy way to reinstall an app that I paid good money for? Please advise as to what I should do (repurchasing the game is not a valid option in my eyes, i've already paid for it). I had read rumors online that Gameloft was making it easier for Android owners to redownload apps, yet I don't see any easy way to do this."
A couple of hours later, I received a very nice personalized email from a support person at Gameloft, thanking me for my patience with their Android HD games issues; telling me that the SMS had been resent with an up to date link. I downloaded it, and it works great. It would seem the rumors of them changing their DRM stance on Android are true, as my request was met with no resistance at all. I now feel that i've got my $4.99 worth from this game.
