New Launcher : ADW

Just curious, are you guys using the Market version of ADW?

The reason I ask is I have used all of them (Mod, Pro, Helix 1/2 etc.) and ADW is insanely fast, more stable and has more features.. The new version on the Market (as of yesterday) moves so fast if you literally blink you will miss it.

Oh, and ADW looks even better with Black Glass :-)

+1 on market version being very good

Is that before or after changing the desktop scroll speed?

I'm running both ADW and Launcher Pro over Bugless Beast 1.1, was using 1.0 before. Only

Its very slow on Moto Milestone even with mine overclocked to 1ghz when you have LWP on.... (just the option... not even a LWP applied)

Even changing the scroll speed just makes it flick FASTER but its still choppy compared to LauncherPro.

Now many people don't realize but if you turn off LWP support, ADW is about AS FAST as LauncherPro. That's what I did, but I notice in Launcher Pro or Helix you don't have to turn off LWP to get decent performance. In fact I get decent performance using the Nexus One LWP on LauncherPro. I imagine its not very fast on ADW.

On another note... When you guys turn off LWP support (static wallpapers only), does Sense UI previews screw up? I lose my wallpaper and it's just black. Looks awfully messed up.

I'm on 7 screens + Motorola Milestone. Maybe it's a Milestone issue....
From my experience lwp support for both adw launcher and launcherpro have been identical. Both seem to be choppy sometimes when running bw's lwp.

Latest news: starting with 5.0.8, ADW launcher will be the default launcher included with CyanogenMod. This from the changelog at cyanogenmod.com.

hey i downloaded adw from marketand installed and used it for a couple of days with the background it came with. I uninstalled it and started using nexus mod live wallpaper with launcher pro and sometimes when i comes out of lock and flashes to my home screen i see the wallpaper of blue adw and then it goes to nexus mod live wallpaper i was wondering why thisis still happening after i uninstalled it please help maybe give me the file name for the wallpaper andi can delete it? or if anyone know the dev email i can email him cause i cannot locate it anywhere

Just got another update, with pinch to zoom for screen previews. There is a couple more, still I haven't seen yet.

I'm currently just playing around with ADW as LauncherPro is what I use. I was hoping someone could tell me if I am remembering correctly or not. Isn't there a setting in ADW that allows you to increase the scroll speed within the app drawer? I see this setting for the homescreen but just don't see it for the drawer.

It seems like ADW and LP keep adding features specifically to compete with each other, which is great IMO, as they are both great launchers.

It is gonna get harder and harder for ppl to choose.....thats why I dont. lol

Just waiting on Home Switcher to fix the Set Default bug for Froyo and I'm straight.

Interesting observation:

Weird support about icons vs widgets. A lot of us use widgets like SMS Unread or some sort of widget for an icon to replace our icons, giving us a counter for # of missed calls/emails/SMS... however, widgets are treated as a different size as shortcuts? I just noticed this in 0.80. I believe this is a new bug.

So I have a GMail widget with a counter and a regular email shortcut for Exchange, and it seems the two icons sit at DIFFERENT levels. One is like 1/3rd icon height higher (same size, diff position) than the other. It's kinda annoying because that row of desktop icons has 1 icon that's sitting higher....

When you long press a shortcut you can see the highlight reveals there's a large area under the icon that gets highlighted. This does not happen on widgets that act as shortcuts... Odd.

yes!! finally with the latest update we now can have 4 static icons instead of just 2!!! w00t!!!!!

also with more goodies: ADW Things

Very nice, but I've gotten used to only 2. I gotta think what I want the others to be now.

Interesting. I just set it as default (this is the standalone version) and my screen count changed from 5 to 4. And when I changed back to 5, the icons were already there.
