New Motorola Droid Update Available

So what exactly is new in this update. I saw the first post about what was supposed to be in it. But I see nothing different about the news/weather widget, I don't even see an amazon widget. What exactly am I supposed to be excited about with this update?

So I'm stock 2.2 Droid and got pushed the 2.2.1 update (I think, I was half asleep and hit update now). The phone showed it was rebooting and I went back to sleep....turns out it got stuck in a boot loop for probably an hour (before I woke up again). I finally pulled the battery and tried again this morning but I'm a good 5-10 mins of bootlooping. Any ideas? I tried to install the update.zip I have on the SD card, but it aborts with an error.
You might try booting into the recovery menu and doing a full reset. That's solved boot loop for me a couple of times. And as for the aborted install, did you tell it to allow update.zip before trying to apply it? Just some suggestions, hope they help.

One thing I just noticed and I tested with my co-worker who doesn't have the update yet is Gmail notifications.

Lets say you get a gmail email alert on your phone, you have the notification and the blinking led indicator. If I go to my pc and read/delete this email and never touch my phone, it clears the notification and blinking indicator from the phone. The old one would not clear.

I don't want to read 17 pages of nonsense..can someone tell me how to ignore the new update and get rid of the popup? I'm rooted and don't want to lose it...

Sorry I am wrong. Our test was not correct, the old one does the same.

Yikes! I spoke too soon, I figured I'd have SPRecovery downloaded and install before my next reply but I can't find it in Market. Where do I get it?

Let's find out what you have and then work from there. Follow Bosteros instructions. Open the keyboard, hold down the X key and while holding it press and hold the power button. Once you see the M logo you can release the power button but continue holding the X untill you either see a triangle with an exclamation point or a greenish, yellowish ninja droid with a list of options. I don't recall what Clockwork recovery looks like...I used it once back in March and removed it 10 minutes later. But if you don't have the two I described, that would probably be clockwork.

So do this and tell us what you see after the M logo goes away.

Nate

Thank you Nate and everyone on here SO much for your willingness to help me. I'm talking to furbearingmammal on pm and he's generosly talking me though it but I'll definitely be back on with an update.

Thanks again!

Motorola System Android Upgrade

I was asked to do a system upgrade. This system upgrade is 3.4MB. This update is for Gmail, Exhange Active Sync Updates and many other improvements. This update is from Verizon.

I have the following rooted Motorola with the ClockWorkMod ROM:

Model: Droid
Android version: 2.2
Baseband version: C_01.43.01P
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-g103d848
android-build@apa26#1
Build Number: FRG22D

Should I Restart and Install this update?

It surprised me a few days ago onto my Droid1. All I notice is slower and broken downloads from the market, more lag. Nothing good has come from it.
