New OTA Update Downloading......

After it dwlnds do I just tap it and it installs or do I have to have a custom recovery to do it?

Sent from my Rooted Razr's keyboard to your eyes! :)

The preinstall files are in a zip but they wil not install and it is not a flashable zip. You have to manually extract the files/open the zip and then copy and paste the files from that folder into the preinstall folder on your phone. It is important that only those four files are in the preinstall folder.

You will need root in order to access the pre install folder. So if you recently unrooted or used root keeper, just restore root so you can get to the right folder.

You can download the zip to the phone and then using a file explorer, open it to copy the files and then paste them in pre install but personally, I always download them to my computer, extract the files, then connect my phone and place the files on my sd card so I know where they are, then disconnect phone from computer, use root explorer to copy those files and paste them in pre install.

I'd go with Jungle's suggestion to flash the fastboot file to get back to 744 then OTA to 748 then OTA to 173. You're guaranteed to have all of the files and you can keep root and your phone's current setup. Just use Voodoo and uninstall Safestrap.

that happened to me wiith the last OTA when i forogt to unfreeze all the stuff i froze with Titainium.

According to Verizon, this has to be a soak test.... I hate this at times. Probably because I never get the leaks, or the soaks..... but either way it gets on my nerves, especially when u hear that it fixes the connectivity issue..... and today my phone has been 3g more than 4g... and I'm in a 4g area.....

I have had a rom on safestrap mode artic, but I'm in non-safe mode and have safestrap disabled. Also have voodoo rootkeeper and followed all instructions with that as well.

Ok. That makes sense. If you follow the guidance I provided for preinstall folder, you will be able to update with the ota as long as your are currently stock.

Still having issues, ota loads goes halfway through then stops, screen shuts off then rebooted to my prior 748 build. Says update failed I give guess ill just stay on this.. no more ota updates. This sucks! This means no ICS either. :(

There must be something missing that it's causing the fail.

Have you tried a fastboot back to stock? That will surely fix it. At least I have never heard of anyone doing a fast boot and still not getting the ota.

Seriously, use RSD Lite to flash the fastboot file. From 744 you can OTA to 748 then to 173. It's really simple, you can get all of the components online. A few days ago a guy who was new to rooting got it done after getting help from us. The whole process will take about an hour (including downloading the ADB drivers and RSD Lite if you don't have those already) and you won't lose any of your apps or data.
