New OTA Update Downloading......

Officially released.

Although some guy says it will be the same exact file as "leaked" files who knows LOL

i'm not taking sides here BUT, i am aware of the same "guy" that posted about them being the same file.

He didn't compare sizes or contents, but instead he compared the md5sum hash of both files.

Of course, this was just some "guy" and that may not be comforting/good enough for some users, which i would argue is a perfectly acceptable attitude when it comes to $300 phones ;-)

It has only been released as a soak test. It's not an official release until Verizon actively pushes it out to all handsets on their network, which obviously has yet to take place. This isn't a difficult concept.

For the record, I'm reasonably certain the leak is the same as the soak and will be the same as the official release. That still doesn't make it an OFFICIAL release. Some people on this thread are like those who misuse the word literally. Makes me crazy. It literally drives me up the wall, officially.

Thank you. I was getting confused with all this who's got it and who's in/out the soak talk. That clarifies it for me...literally and officially.:happy3:

Well that is far different than file size. Again the new release may get changed, who know

absolutely correct; it is still in the realm of possibility that there may be changes made...that's enough for ME to wait another week!

As the founder of the 6.12.173 leaked update... I can confirm that the file for 6.12.173 for Droid RAZR leak and the soak are the same exact file. Anyone saying "Oh it cannot be the official one" cannot look at these Verizon documents and tell its not. That is the version number Verizon is sending out SOON. Some people not even in the soak have already started to get it (you guys on this website probably wouldn't know since there are not as many RAZR owners here).

Nubia is a friend of mine, and unless I see new Verizon change logs that make it the 6.12.175 leak I am holding on my phone now (which by the way, 6.12.174 and 6.12.174 are based off UPGRADING FROM 6.12.173.

For those who don't understand the standard way of changing files, is to change the version number. If you have a problem with calling this an official update when these documents from Verizon and non-soak testers are getting it let me know. I am all ears.

Soaks have changed in the past to the official, but if it does change it will NOT be 6.12.173. As of this time unless you have proof otherwise 6.12.173 is to be considered official in this little "debate" / "troll war" you kids are having.

Dude...not so fast. I can understand users not wanting to put a leaked update from who knows where, given a name version number by God only knows, and the only credentials they know is a "guy" produced it. They don't know you, they don't know where you got it, and you certainly can't produce anything other than a "trust me". You can copy all the info you want from the Verizon web site...that doesn't give the leaked update any credibility. I hope those are using the leaked version are happy and their phones operating well. But, I think the prudent thing to do, at this point, is wait for the official update.

Crap! I reverted for NOTHING from 174!

2.3.6 ver 174 rooted with NO problems

Wait all you like. If you think some "guy" produced Motorola-signed packaged then you live in some kind of whacked out version of reality. I get people not trusting any update not delivered directly to their phone yet. Believe me I do. But the soak and my leak are the same exact file, both signed by Motorola. There is a huge error in 173 which is the force closed when hitting search in the app drawer. This has been fixed in a small patch 174 and 175. Motorola wouldn't bother making them off of 173 update if it wasn't already going through the official process.

Unless you can see more into Motorola's servers than I can, I'd like to see you find a more "official" 173.
