[New!!!][ROM] D1-MIUI-1.1.7.0

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that he was asking about the built-in wireless tether. I can't test because I don't have a laptop.

I just tried the built in portable hotspot and it just says 'error' and can't turn on. haven't used the market one or barnacle though, both of which i would assume work.

Yeah i dont think that one has ever worked. I just tried wireless tether with no luck. And just tried barnacle with no luck. Ill reboot and see if anything works
both work for me on slayher's 1.7 kernel

the lock screen text icon still won't give me google voice as a choice.

Google Voice is not an SMS/MMS client and as such is not seen by the Android system as one; truth be told it has more akin to an IM client. This is why the lock screen SMS icon will not redirect to Google Voice, and it probably never will.

hmmmm, I beg to differ. Although it may not be a traditional sms app, it does act like one and almost all other ROMS and stock apps that use SMS, and have multiple apps for SMS (handcent, stock, etc), offer you the choice. Also, by blocking SMS on your device and using a GV number, I get free texting :icon_ banana:

They are super cheap. I picked one up locally for about $15. Online you can prolly find them even cheaper.

Just bought two of them(OEM Motorolas)on Ebay for $7.99 each. Hopefully that will fix the issue. Thanks for the responses Hopper, much appreciated!!

Motorola also has an external charger for $20 that charges 4 of their batteries, one being the D1 battery. I love it. I bought it from Verizon 800 number and they had a hard time finding it in their catalog but they finally found it. Worth it.

Anyone move from 12.24 to 1.1.7.0? If so, any issues?

Mike

I did move from 12.24 to this and no new issues and the phone runs better ( 1.1 ghz slayer kernel). I have flashed it 3 different ways and found out that the bet way was to set up everything from scratch. Huge PITA but no FCs and no issues. Titanium backup and MIUI backups are fine in some cases but I've found out that I run into a lot of issues using the restore function of these apps.

wireless tether works like a charm on mine? Are you rooted?

Ive been keeping up to date with MIUI and have to say this is the most smoothest ive ever seen this ROM run. I had few problems with 12.31 but almost have none with this 1.7 build. Great job on porting it Jamezelle.

Beg to differ all you want, it doesn't change the fact that Google Voice app does not use SMS/MMS protocol.

Do any of the 3rd party SMS/MMS widgets let you see your Google Voice texts? If any of them do (and I still haven't found one) then it has seperate code to enable it to specifically poll Google Voice instead of just the SMS/MMS apps.

In the end, you may use Google Voice for free texting all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that Google Voice app is not a SMS/MMS app; it only allows you to send SMS/MMS through Google's proprietary servers.

Camera is really glitchy for me, keeps turning the flash on and off and beeps twice as in a error, all this without me doing anything. I have to spam the camera button for it to take a picture, I'll be sticking to stock camera for now until a more stable version of the miui camera comes out. Rom is flawless besides that!

I turned the Flash from Auto to On and then back to Auto and the Miui Camera works perfect now!! The Miui Gallery was a bit glitchy so i rebooted and it works OK now too!!:icon_eek:

So should I get this cause I like the data throttleing hack. I mean if there are more reasons for me to download this, ie. stability, new features, then I will. Really just looking for some reassurance from those who have been using this. Thanks in advance!

Sent from my Droid using DroidForums App

The data throttling hack is totally worthless, does nothing, and any perceived difference in 3G speeds is a placebo effect.

Hope this helps!
i disagree with you 100%. I downloaded a 2 gig file at 250-300 kbps with no stops THEN i watched a movie. before the throttling hack i'd probably get 1% into the file before my 3g caved.

having a few launcher force closes, but not the end of the world.

yeah so far mine have only been when I was working with the apps, restoring moving, etc; the launcher would fc in the backround, but never while I was using it so far.

Same here. I captured one on logcat and posted it, jamezelle will have to see if there is anything to be done.
Only happened a couple of times since Sat. night. No biggie.

So far I love it, still better than the "traditional" ROMs Ive used, but wireless tether for root and barnacle tether are both not working for me with P3 Lv 1.25 kernel. Wireless for root will show up on my MBP but wont connect, barnacle wont show up at all.

I have a MBP and often I need to check the Access control. Additionally, I tap the airport icon and tap join to find the Android Tether.
