I really loved this ROm and never thought I would leave it. But, I videoed the kids sleigh riding, tried to send it as mms video and got a message video to large. The last ROm I was on would say converting to mms or something like that. I could not find any settings to help me out. Am I missing something? If I am I would love to come back, but that is too nice a feature in my opinion to be without.

hmmmm, I beg to differ. Although it may not be a traditional sms app, it does act like one and almost all other ROMS and stock apps that use SMS, and have multiple apps for SMS (handcent, stock, etc), offer you the choice. Also, by blocking SMS on your device and using a GV number, I get free texting :icon_ banana:

Beg to differ all you want, it doesn't change the fact that Google Voice app does not use SMS/MMS protocol.

Do any of the 3rd party SMS/MMS widgets let you see your Google Voice texts? If any of them do (and I still haven't found one) then it has seperate code to enable it to specifically poll Google Voice instead of just the SMS/MMS apps.

In the end, you may use Google Voice for free texting all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that Google Voice app is not a SMS/MMS app; it only allows you to send SMS/MMS through Google's proprietary servers.

I understand what you are saying and actually agree with your assessment. However, if it acts like an SMS client, looks like an SMS client, and smells like an SMS client, I'd consider it my SMS client. Now can we have it be recognized by MIUI as one so I can have a choice of which one to pick on my LOCK SCREEN? Please.

The funny thing is that this choice is there in MIUI when you go to contact, click the picture of a contact, and choose text from the opened up menu. It gives me a choice of native client, handcent, or google voice with the option box to be used by default at the bottom. So if can be there, don't you think it not being at the lock screen is just an oversight? Cheers.

So should I get this cause I like the data throttleing hack. I mean if there are more reasons for me to download this, ie. stability, new features, then I will. Really just looking for some reassurance from those who have been using this. Thanks in advance!

Sent from my Droid using DroidForums App

The data throttling hack is totally worthless, does nothing, and any perceived difference in 3G speeds is a placebo effect.

Hope this helps!
i disagree with you 100%. I downloaded a 2 gig file at 250-300 kbps with no stops THEN i watched a movie. before the throttling hack i'd probably get 1% into the file before my 3g caved.

Well ZeroBarrier pointed out that unlike other carriers like T-Mobile, Verizon doesn't do data throttling via software. Since he tends to be uber-knowledgeable and right about most things, I'm taking his word for it. I did several tests using the SpeedTest app and saw no change in the range of data speeds after installing the hack, and both before and after I got a very wide range of results even when performing the tests within seconds of each other. So there can be a wide fluctuation in data speeds on a constant basis. Based on your anecdotal results it doesn't exactly sound like you are employing the scientific method.

google would have to add an intent reciever to be picked up by the lockscreens messaging button's intent. or someone would have to hack the app
probably wouldnt be too difficult

so how does it appear as a choice in the contact app? Thanks for everything though. It looks great. This new version is my personal favorite.

Jamezelle, do you have a personal preference for a Kernel/speed/LV or uLV for this version? Slayher, Chevy#1, etc? The stock runs great but you know us, need for more power...:)

For those who have flashed, is it worth the upgrade from 12.24? There doesn't seem to be much addition feature wise, but curious about performance. I'm running pretty solid right now on 12.24 so trying debate on flashing. thanks

i flashed from .24 because of the force closes and reboots. i was getting them regularly. it started out maybe one a day, but then went to several a day.

now on the new version, i have only had one in 3 days.
