new soak test

Kinda scared to do that really! Dont wanna be posting later a "HELP! I Bricked my phone!!! " LOL. The auto rooting postings look like their easy, but not knowing how to mess with roms have put me off a little.

If you haven't tried it I think you would be surprised. The screen to me feels more responsive and the screen even looks better. I've tried dhacker and droidth3ory ROMS and liked them both.

I have tried just about every ICS rom available for the Bionic. It is a big step forward with a lot of things, but some parts of ICS just bug me. I don't know if its b/c its not an official release, but its a bunch of little things that always send me back to GB.

Scrolling through the browser seems "heavy", if you fling the screen up or down it goes about 1/2 to 1/4 of the way it would have gone on GB.
Long pressing a link does not highlight the link to let you know you are pressing in the correct place.
Haptic feedback is very very light compared to GB.
The volume levels are different from GB to ICS. There is too much of a gap between levels 0, 1, and 2. 0 (obviously) is mute, 1 is too loud and is actually probably closer to 2 or 3 on GB.
Then there are the known issues of hardware acceleration not working, data drops, etc, etc.

ICS is nice, but I have not been able to stay on an ICS rom for more than a couple of days b/c of these little things getting to me. So I just flash back to stock thanks to safestrap and I wait until the next release of something pops up and I give that a shot.

Same here. It's the little things, like having to do that toggle trick to get data working, or the bluetooth not working...small things which when added together make for an annoying experience.

I'm really confused why they recruited soak testers last month and nothing happened.the leaked update list that came out with dates was obviously way yyy off .this is a really long time for soak tests to be delayed if it is just 904 which barely has any differences from the current build.... Unless they decided to scrap that and just release a version with a whole bunch of changes.... Dare I say? Yeah right.that's wishful thinking at it's most illogical knoWing verizerola

look, I've stayed stock because the soak suggested it but with that tanking so goddam long and because I didn't Wanda do experiments on my phone when it is my only source of internet and communication and I am a CS major so I needed it to be stock and completely reliable.well the semester ended today so I have the summer of f and I really miss flashing my d1.Sooo....what's the most reliable Ics ROM for bionic?I know the camera s broke on most of them which I hate but whatever.I could use as much info aspossible to root, flash the coolest ROM(gummyjar sounds cool maybe)n I'd also like to know how to return to unrooted/stock. Anyone who takes the time to help, u r a great person.a gentleman and a scholar

This should help

let me get this straight what's a strap I can has basically 2 phones 1 that keeps everything the way it is now stock and then another 1 or I can flash around and try it out and basically I can boot up with either 1....so I can preserve my phone the way it is while still trying out a ROM ???

Someone posted a cheesecaked 905 update... I wonder what ever happened with the soak test. Maybe they will have a 905 soak test soon before releasing it? The ics wait got so rediculous that I gave up on updates altogether.the nexus has not even gotten one single update since day 1.

essentially, yes. There is a little more to it than what you are describing, but you will always have the ability to boot into recovery and switch from unsafe mode (where you can flash all sorts of goodies) and safe mode (where everything is protected and you can't flash anything). Unsafe mode makes a backup of your safe side, so that if you flash something incorrectly, get a bad flash, or just want to go back to stock, you can just by switching back to safe mode.

This is just a noob question, what's "cheesecaked"?

cheesecake is a program that pulls updates from moto's servers. this is where most of the leaked updates come from, i believe thats where we originally got the 901/902/904 updates. these are not tested or verified to work.

personally, I don't use the cheesecake method, especially after the last leaked update with the RAZR really effing things up for a handful of people who tried to go back to stock and ended up with a brick.

This is just a noob question, what's "cheesecaked"?

Cheesecake is an app that is used to search Moto's servers for updates...to try and grab them ahead of the official release date. It's a crap shoot if you install one of them, since you never know if it is going to be a real release or if it is just in initial testing.

Beings this thread has turned into an ICS ROM, Cheesecake... etc,. discussion, I'd suggest the Mods close this thread so we can get back on track with the subject matter.

Still curious as well... what happened to the soak test!

They probably delayed it for the 905.
