New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

I just spent 1 1/2 hrs on the phone with Verizon COE (Center of Excellence). I have five phones on my acct., Three smart and two dumb with a 2100 min plan.
My bill runs $228.00 before taxes.
I changed all phones to the data plan (the dumb phones can access the web), and my new bill is now $180.00 before taxes with 2000 min plan.
Here is the breakdown:

Old New
primary $130 $120
data for 3 phones $89.97 data for 5 phones $149.97 ($100 disc.) = $49.97
$9.99 for 4 phones $39.93 same $39.96
Corp disc. $32.00 $30.00

That is a savings of $48 per month.:icon_ banana:

no edit button.

the old and new data was spaced better in the orig. msg

Smells like a future bait-and-switch to me. Get more people upgrading to smartphones and data plans and then BAM! tiered pricing with LTE.

I'm no tech savy person but am wondering what if!

not sure the rumor I think I heard is true but for disscusion sake here goes.

you terminate current verizon package that was say 700 minutes unlimted text mail and data package.

now you go to new plan thats cheaper for 1400 minutes unlimited text and data and mail

you in effect just negated the grandfather claus that may very well have been granted to the new tier levels with 4g LTE to include unlimited data instead of paying for say 2 GB of data like on AT&T plan is now ?

see where my minds going sometimes patience rules the Big Red!

just my 2 cents worth what do you tech savy folks think on this possibility for offering this now?

at 60 years young just call me "Mysified"

You're wrong.

Peoplle that switch to the new plan that are currently on the second year of a two year plan get there plan extended by one year. My guess is that's where you thing they got you. But what you don't realize is that people who are in the first year of a 2 year contract have no extension, or change in their contract other then the reduced price.

It's not a bait and switch. I know you didn't say that specifically, the person you quoted did. But there is no alternate agenda.

You need to become a Forum moderator. That will keep you busy enough that you won't come up with that type of thinking. ;)

they just agreed to do it for me ill see when i get my bill single line droid they said 69.99 unlimited everything and i get to keep my 17% discount

It depends on when the rep posted the change to take place. If they set it for your next billing cycle you wont see the change now...I asked the rep to back date the promo on my account so the change took place immediatly

My new rates were made retroactive as well...to the 1st day of the current billing cycle. I just paid bill and it was the new rate.dancedroid

I've already posted this probably about 4 times but I know people miss it so I repost every once in a while about the billing.

It is retroactive to your last billing date. Now how it worked for me, since I already had a statement I didn't get a different bill. I paid the amount on the bill.

Then when you receive your next bill what you will see is the previous month refunded and replaced by the new rates. Now what you need to look at is to make sure they also credit your data back to you. They didn't with me and my first months bill was actually higher.

I called Verizon and the rep I had said the bill was correct and went through it with me. I was still confused when I got off the phone but that was when I noticed that there was no refund for data for the previous months bill. I called Verizon and they gave me a 20.00 credit. So the first months bill with refunds was 15.00 lower then what I anticipated it should be. The next month it came in at the rate I expected.

Had I not caught the error they would have overcharged me that $20.00. So make sure you check your bill. I know I wasn't the only one that happened to one of the other mods had it happen to him too.
