New X orders now will not ship until the 18th.. Yeah right

Listen to this, I called my local store about the order I placed on the 17th and was told they had 6 phones in and that they are all gone. I`m now #6 on their list and they said there were still several people ahead of me who pre ordered in MAY! There are still people out here in western KY who have been waiting for the DX for several month`s now.

Is this at an actual verizon store? Or an authorized retailer? Either way somethings not right I would have / should order online...

called 8/26 (updated est. ship on 9/10)
got impatient... called every store within 40 miles... found 1 in store an hour away....
drove to store... cancelled online order and bought my DroidX! Whoop! Loving it...

This is an Authorized Agent we`re talking about. There`s no telling how many people they convinced to switch to the Inc. or D2. They tried to get me to switch to the D2 last time I called. I want to go to the verizon store or order online but I`m worried I will have to wait two more weeks. But I might have to wait for another two weeks here. Aaaah! I don`t know what to do! I`m so sick of waiting for this phone! I`ve wanted one since the rumors started but had to wait for my upgrade. I will call the Verizon store tomorrow and see what`s going on there, maybe then I can decide what to do.

Just for people who are interested. I ordered a DX online on the 19th around lunch time. Received a shipping notification on the 29th. Should be at my house before 3pm. Shipping from Memphis to Raleigh.
Seems about 12 days, at least on the east coast, is the norm.
If it's at my apt by lunch I may run home and charge it up so it's ready to go when I get off work.

Dudes - sorry for the late update but.... it got here yesterday around 1pm!!!! I haven't done much since except mess with the DX. It was well worth the wait and apparently perfect timing too because Engadget is saying they have official Froyo info to be released early Sept.!

Anyways keep a look out on your door step - mine came to my door 1 day before the original shipping date!

Never received shipping email, checked the verizon 'order status' screen today, and there was a tracking number. Delivering today by 3pm, made it home as the FedEx guy was leaving the neighborhood. Picking it up tonight after 6pm EST. Can't wait!

Ordered a DX today, Verizon tossed me an early upgrade and I couldn't resist. Now I'm dying waiting for the thing.

They said it'll be here by the 14th, but I'm hopeful (from reading this thread) that it'll arrive a bit earlier.

I ordered directly from Verizon over the phone, any chance that'll expedite the process?
