News on the release of 2.1

Isn't anyone else frustrated with Verizon and Motorola on how they continue to drop the ball? Then regress into hiding until the firestorm is over.

I've never seen such mismanagement in my life (and I work in health care)

I'm curious why everyone is so complacent.

because the update is "meh" and its still just a material item.

I really should clarify my point,

I am not frustrated that the update isn't coming out yet, as I want the it to be perfect. I may have strayed from my intended message......I am frustrated with the lack of communication by these companies. The way they are handling this update is pathetic...we are receiving our info via leaks and second hand messages....to me, that's not how you treat your costumers....

Don't you think, as a costumer, paying thousands of dollars, you deserve an explanation?

1st off this has nothing to do with VZW.

The problem is on the server side. Blame HP not Moto either, second..everyone's droid works. There is no reason to be upset. As far as dropping the ball. I was told April before the update. Than I saw the PDF posted. Now I'm told April again just tonight. Thappen let it go.

Alright, I'm done....not trying to start anything or antagonize...

OK, I give up. I quit. I don't care anymore. Someone just point me in the right direction to a Root, ROM, or whatever (maybe a comparison thread?) so I can get 5 screens and overclocking. PLEASE!

Verizon is :icon_evil:

You can already get 5 screens without rooting, just download a home replacement app from the market. Use the helix launcher thing.

Well it's a good thing you're not running Verizon, or there would be a lot more satisfied customers! haha

Seriously though; yes the lack of communication is frustrating, and the fact that people have been waiting for this update is frustrating, but honestly: does your phone do what it's supposed to? Mine sure does, and then some. I'm a non-root, and there isn't a single thing I can't do on my phone that I expect it to, and for me, no problems to speak of.

Do I want the update? Sure. Do I think it's worth freaking out everytime someone other than the company that is going to release it leaks information, and it's wrong? No. Am I going to let 2.1 give me an ulcer/carpal tunnel from refreshing my browser? I'm actually waiting for the day the droid gets an app that cures uclers, and carpal tunnel! I'm banking on two months from now. ;)

Cheers, folks; and chillllll!

anyone know if this is true?

• At noon EDT on 3/18, 1,000 users will receive notification of the update
• At 11:59 PM EDT on 3/18, 9,000 more users will receive the update notification
• After the first 10,000 users receive the update on 3/18, there will be a 24-hour period when no additional upgrades will be delivered
• On Day 3 (3/20), 200,000 users will receive the update notification at 11:59 PM EDT
• This schedule will continue each day thereafter until the update has been delivered to all users
• And here are a few conditions needed for the update to be applied:
• An OTA download requires 40% or more power availability
• If the device is not connected to an external power source or 20% or more power if it is connected to an external source
• If roaming, the customer will not receive the update

oops! my bad. today is pay day since the 20th lands on a saturday. it's how i keep track of the week, i keep a poor schedule.

I can see where a mix up could have happened according to that link 11:59pm on 3/18 is only 24 hrs from 11:59pm 3/20. According to my math that's 48 hrs.

Ok 2.1 is not going to be out for an undetermined amount of time. This thread offers no new information and is filled with rooted comments. Do we really need two threads full of the same information, questions, and statements?

Certain Doctors I deal with use their phone for dictation and notes on various patients. I use it to look up lab results....If their phone is lost, that could be a very serious problem.

Update or no... a putting HIPPA or other PI data on the Droid is a risky call without any encryption. The Doctors you work with are saving those recordings to the SD card. I can get the SD out of the phone without knowing what pattern he used to lock the phone ;)

Obviously you can just remove the sdcard and put it in a computer or another phone
