News on the release of 2.1

Well, maps just pushed out another update, 4.1.1 ...

Either my Droid screwed the first one Wed, but I think they did something to it and updated again, perhaps related.

I got maps 4.1.0 just pushed out. But let's keep the topic on 2.1, I'm getting a lot of complaints about people going off topic here. You might want to post that in the apps area or General Discussion thread.;)

I'm rooted, but still interested in 2.1, that's why I keep checking back.

Of course, I'm using DM 1.0, so I'm really only using a 2.0.1 root, but still. 2.1 means one step closer to Flash!

If the best things in life are worth the wait (as often stated on these 2.1 threads), then this release is going to be awesome.

Better be or they will have a bigger riot. But I honestly do not think it is much of a change if 2.1 is reported to be almost half the size of 2.01.

Maybe the devs will cut up the milestone 2.1 official release. But we here in the states are still awaiting big red to finish playing with it (testing it).

There is a delay. I think the Verizon guy on Twitter may not have his facts straight.

Then again maybe I don't have mine either. I don't know who to believe.

There was some confusion whether the company motorola was using to push out the update could handle all that data transfer, but they have had a month to fix it since the update was said to come out.

That page also says the update will be around 40mb.

Sent to 200000 phones at a time, about 8000000 mb or 7812.5 gb, yup I could see what could go wrong

That's not how they will do the update though. It will start out with a much smaller number for a couple of days, then they will start to release it to the masses. More like 10,000 phones maximum at each release time.
