[ROM] [NIGHTLY] UNOFFICIAL CM9/ICS For Droid 4 For MotoICS Leak

This is the first custom ROM I've used in a long time. Probably since my D1. Pretty slick. A couple of things I've noticed, some of which I'm not clear on if they've been fixed in a subsequent update.

Keyboard stays lit until the screen is turned off. This appears to only be the case if automatic brightness is enabled.
I lost my data connection for about 10 min. I'm in a 4G area and had nearly full signal strength. So far this has only happened once so it's quite possibly a carrier issue.
GPS seems to always be trying to get a location as a background process.
Speakerphone seems awfully quiet. I played a YouTube video and it was plenty loud but when using speakerphone it was hard to hear. Admittedly, I didn't try it before this ROM on this phone.
Contact pictures aren't appearing and I haven't found where I thought I had selected this in the stock ROM.
I use VZW visual voice mail and I can't get it to work on this ROM. It hangs at trying to validate my account.

Next, a couple of questions as I'm still familiarizing myself with CM. Is there some way to get "Smart Actions" back? I had started using those pretty heavily. I liked the silence slider on the lock screen but I can't seem to do that on CM. I thought about creating a custom activity with the ring but wasn't sure if this was the best solution. Certainly open to suggestions. Lastly, I rebooted my phone this morning and all of my settings were wiped. I sill had all of my downloaded apps but the home screen was back to default and I had to reconfigure all of my apps again. Should I have expected that?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Under System Settings > Display > Automatic Backlight > Edit Other Levels, you have complete control over your brightness settings. I messed around with mine a bit - you can see the current sensor levels so you know what you each "lower/upper" number means.

This is what I'm currently using:

http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/557032_10151020335738324_1115625583_a.jpg

From what I've gathered...

Sensor = The current sensor reading. Filtered is the average of the sensor over the time you set for the sample. Raw is the immediate sensor reading. If you don't use the average, your screen will flicker as you walk through shadows, etc.
Screen = The current setting for the screen. You can go from 20 to 255, 20 being the darkest.
Buttons = The current setting for the front screen buttons (menu, home, back, search). This is 0 or 255. Off or on.
Keyboard = The current setting for the keyboard backlight. This is adjustable from 0 to 255.
"Lower" is the only setting you can adjust, with "upper" being one notch below the next level's "lower". The last one defaults to infinity.

In my settings, you can see that I only have the buttons and keyboard on when the sensor reads 0-19 (which is pretty much night time only). The keyboard is very faintly lit up but I can see it perfectly when it's night time.

In direct sunlight (15000+), my screen goes up to 200 or 230, depending on how bright the sunlight is.

Mess with these settings all you want - you can always revert back to the default.

@kenji91

thx for your new settings :-)

but why are you using 230 for maximum brightness for display?

As I'm sure lots of you have noticed, the battery doesn't last very long on the D4. I feel like I'm actually burning through more juice on CM9 than I was with the .213 leak with frozen bloatware. I'm in a constant battle to conserve battery life.

And 230 is bright enough for me to see in direct sunlight. My settings aren't perfect yet, but I'm working on them. :)

To be fair to CM9, I think something is up with the Facebook Messenger app. I've never seen it where FB is right up there with "Display" in terms of battery consumption.

One more annoying little issue in CM9...

Every time I download something, a bunch of my previous downloads all pop up in the notification bar.

Has anyone been able to overclock or undervolt? Is that a possibility or do we need to wait for the official ota or the kernal?

Weird Issue

I don't know if anyone else experienced this or not but i have a weird bug with this rom. It happens every now and then the music wont work right. I use winamp and I play a song and no music plays. I know its not winamp as it doesnt work with the internal player either. Out of no where it will start working again. It happened a few times. Weird thing is Say i open winamp and play a song it will start from the begining for a sec or two then jump to where I last left off on the song. I think the internal audio music player is busted where it wont play music all the time or gets caught up on where it left off the last time a song was played. Anyone else see this issue?

I have not seen that issue. But then again, I use Rocket Player. It's been flawless for me so far.

I too have encountered this problem. It happens to games as well for me. Just randomly it will work, then randomly it won't no reboot or anything.

How do you know if the ROM is fully installed? I did both the 7-03 version, and the GAPPS install, and everything looks, and operates the same as the ICS Leaked .213 version. Sorry if this is a stupid question, just wanna make sure I did it right.. it did say at reboot that ICS was updating.

Stupid question but... did you boot in safe mode? CM9 looks nothing like the leaked ICS. Right from the boot logo, it's very different.

Can you post a screenshot of your "About phone"?

I did, I used safestrap, disabled safe mode, created a backup on my external, install from .zip, chose the CM9 ICS leak from 07-03, once installed did the install for gapps, wiped system cache, enabled safe mode, rebooted. when rebooting it showed the same startup as the Leaked ICS .213, but before the system turned on it said upgrading android and started uploading about 135 files.

I'm not sure how to take screen shots.. but I'll post the numbers:
