[ROM] [NIGHTLY] UNOFFICIAL CM9/ICS For Droid 4 For MotoICS Leak

how do u reset the mac adress, wifi worked for a few days and now it doesnt..

technically you can't. It has happened to me only once in the past 3 weeks. Easiest fix it to just enter safestrap and install the newest nightly on top of your existing rom. Don't worry about wiping, just literally enter safestrap and install the rom. This keeps all your settings the same on the phone and resolves any issues

This is the only fix I found, outside wiping/reloading. Clearing the cache does not work. It must be a file that goes bad because when you install the rom it wipes the cache anyway. This leads me to believe a file from the rom corrupts or somehow only goes into read only mode.

This is terrible news

I have been downloading the latest nightly every morning and flashing it in Safestrap without any issues. No wiping anything. Literally, hit the Menu button to go to Safestrap and flash the nightly and reboot.

It keeps all my settings, texts, etc. The only thing that gets reset is JuiceDefender's settings, which are easily backed up and restored.

Is there something I should be disabling as part of the initial switch to CM9? I was running the .206 leak before switching to CM9. Even if I have to start from step 1 to get this working correctly that's fine but I'm definitely not having the same experience you are.

Well, I was on .219 GB and did the switch to the ICS leak. I wiped EVERYTHING at that point - cache, dalvik cache, etc. From there, I kept flashing the latest leak, from .206 to .208, from .208 to .211, from .211 to .212, and from .212 to .213. It felt like I was doing it every day/every other day. And each time, I'd lose my data.

Finally, from .213, CM9 started releasing its nightlies. I installed Safestrap 2.0 and wiped everything, switched to safe mode, and flashed the CM9 nightly. From there on, I just kept downloading the latest nightly and flashing it over what I had on my safe side, without wiping anything.

What's your story?

My wifi wasn't working for a while after flashing the latest build. I turned it off and used 4g exclusively for a few hours. Just turned it back on and am posting right now using wifi. Not sure why it was not working, but it seems fine for me now. Though the wifi indicator keeps turning off and back on, it seems to work.

Honestly I haven't used wifi much at all. 4G tends to be faster than most of the wifi I have access to. dancedroid

Before I went to ICS .206 I was with the latest VZW stock ROM available.

The only thing that I didn't do was to wipe everything. I opted to not do that as I thought I had read in an update this was no longer needed. I'll have time tomorrow to update the the latest nightly and wipe and see if I'm still having the issue. I really hope that's it.

Assuming that's the case then I have two more questions in mind.

1. Is there some method for getting the Smart Actions feature back on this ROM? If not, then some equivalent. I used it primarily for volume control based on time and location. I only found an app that works based on time.
2. Does anyone have VZW's visual voicemail working on this? I confirmed it worked on ICS for me but I cannot get it to work on CM9.

Thanks!

I would wipe before I flashed the ROM, so it has a clean fresh install to work with. I have an app called Quick Profiles that I use for volume control. I have settings for Normal, Work, and Vibrate. It also lets you make one-touch widgets to set the profile. When I get to work, I just hit the "Work" button on my home screen (or whatever screen you want). When I'm off, I hit Normal.

I can't really comment on VZW Visual VM, as I've never used it.

Can I wipe everything and install the latest nightly or do I have to install a previous version first?

Smart Actions is part of Motoblur...that won't carry over to CM9.

As for Visual Voicemail, isn't that on Play Store? I know some of the other Verizon apps are...

from safestrap? or from power + volume buttons?
Sorry.. dont wanna brick.

Safe Mode is the mode you install roms in. Its named that way because its safe to screw things up. When you are in Unsafe Mode, any changes are made to your stock system. Very unsafe to make changes there since stock and leaked updates are signed and require certain sets of files to be completely untouched. Some checks are performed on the entire /system partition and can be a real pain to put back to exactly stock form.
