So I am now on froyo with my fascinate...how do I use wifi tethering or whatever so my phone can act as a wireless router and I can connect my laptop to it for internet? I've heard there is a way but now I cannot find the thread.

CWM vs. Odin

TAPOUT27,

adrynalyne is distributing this ROM as .ZIP files that get flashed via CWM, but you have the same ROM here as tar files for Odin. I prefer to come here, because CWM isn't working out for me, but Odin is.

Here's what I am curious about: Do you unzip the ROM and re-package it? How would I learn the steps for that? If it's as simple as un-tar-ing, and then zipping it, then I can do that, but I assume that there are other steps, because you have the PIT file here. I haven't found this answer yet, apparently my Google-fu isn't strong enough.

I downloaded 2 coherent tethering programs, both my pc is able to connect to via as-hoc method, but it is not able to get to any websites. Any thoughts?

If im on stock eb01, can i odin right to sc2.8 (non wipe) ? Will i not lose my contacts and email accounts? Do i have to manually wipe or anything? Getting ready to go for 2.8 but i want to do it right

anytime you ODIN it auto wipes everything....you can use titanium backup to save apps and data...contacts will save through Google and email will need to be resetup

Thanks Tap, for updating the instructions in the OP, however it seems no matter what i do my PC refuses to recognize the phone once I put it into download mode. I've even gone over to XDA and tried it step by step but cannot get a connection to Odin. So at this point in time i'm screwed until I can drop kick my PC into getting it to work.

Dumb question. I did not look before updating from 2.4 to 2.8. Odin says successful but since I used the 2.8 update that keeps data/programs how do I confirm?

My kernal version shows 2.6.32.9 (but I did not look before to know what it was.)

Problem with texting after rooting.

After I rooted and ran debloated EB01, my phone started putting lots of random @ symbols in my texts, sometimes it won't, but after I went back to stock, and them upgraded to Superclean 2.8, it happens again. Any idea why?

just make sure you have usb debugging enabled...turn your phone off and reboot it after plugging it into the PC...that should work if you have the drivers installed

there isnt really any way to tell im aware of....you can always reflash the v2.8 Rom file in CWMR if you want the piece of mind....if ODIN said successful then it was successful

you wiped data/cache? cache partition and dalvik cache before updating right?

I havent heard this issue before....try a different keyboard
