[Odin] Full EB01 Froyo leak, packaged ROMs w/root and new clockwork **UPDATED**2/11

Hello all. My new fascinate will be here tomorrow. I am going to use this guide to root. Which tar file is the best to use coming from an unrooted fascinate? Also once rooted it says not to flash in rom manager. How do I boot into recovery and make a backup and install a new rom in the future then? I am familiar with using cwr on my rooted nook color and droid.

sent from my rooted nook color

Use the ODIN SuperClean v2.9 .tar

Yea Rom Manager is incompatible with the modded red CWMR Froyo requires...dont use it for anything

Boot into recovery manually by holding vol up+vol dwn+pwr button for around 12 seconds

Thanks for the info. Do I use 2.9 eb16sc29 or eb16sc29x? Do I want the version that wipes or the one that doesn't coming from an unrooted device? Also can I flash OC kernels in recovery with this?

There are no OC kernels for Froyo yet as source code hasnt been released yet

I am all rooted with SC 2.9. When I boot into recovery manually I don't see an option to backup. How do I backup without being able to use cwr? Also how do I apply the 2.9.1 patch, do I rename it update.zip and place on root of sdcard?

You're booting in blue recovery correct?
If so use apply update.zip you put on your sd card before you rooted with odin. Then you should be in red recovery.

To apply patch just simply download it to your phone. Don't unzip it, simply just put it on the root of the sd card. Boot to red recovery and flash it there.

Updating to the latest and greatest..

Hi All, I am new to all this and used this guide a couple of weeks ago to *finally* take the plunge and update my phone to the SC2.6 (latest at the time). I love my phone again! I have had a few FC but other than that it has run great. Anyhoo, I was a little concerned about the virus threat and was thinking of upgrading to the newly released SC2.9. Do I just download it and follow the same steps as I used the first time? Also, I was considering trying the Voodoo kernel. Is there any drawbacks over the nonvoodoo? (I assume the voodoo kernel mods are the ones that don't say nonvoodoo, correct?)

yes same steps to use the v2.9 in the OP...I wouldnt say drawbacks, but as a noob Id avoid Voodoo for the time being...it requires you to disable lagfix between flashes of Rom's etc...if you dont disable the lagfix you can soft brick your phone and nobody wants that....
Its only marginally faster than nonvoodoo and v2.9/v2.9.1 is a great build and is quite fast as is...
hope that helps

One last question...

Okay, I will take your advice and stay away from voodoo. I think I understand from reading that speed is the biggest benefit due to using the ext4 file system but I have been happy with the speed increase from the stock image.

One last question before I update. If I use the SC2.9 that doesn't wipe the cache/data does that mean I won't have to re-setup my google accounts or re-install applications after updating?

That im not 100% on as I have never used that particular SC ODIN file....give it a try....worst thing that can happen is you ODIN the other file if something messes up

Well, I installed the SC2.9 that doesn't wipe data and it appeared to work but everything looks the same (except I lost a widget -- no big deal). Is there a way I can verify I am on SC2.9 now?
