that is strange... maybe try going back to eb01 stock (via odin package i prefer), then get back up to sc2.9.2, just a thought, that has resolved some issues for me in the past

load into recovery and wipe the battery under advanced settings....see if this helps

been working great for a month, but all of a sudden my phone has gone to sleep and won't turn back on. i have to take my battery out and restart it that what. this happens at least 3 times a day.

I seriously doubt we will see 2.3 anytime soon in any official update but if proper leaks are built then yes it will get packaged up and posted here

yep put on the root menu of your sd card and Install via clockwork

i'm very new to rooting, but is cwm recovery mandatory to do this? what exaclty does it do? and do i need to be rooted to do this? will one click root work? thanks.

Just follow the directions in the first post. You will be rooted with cwm and running froyo. Yes cwm is necessary because its what you use to flash most roms, themes, kernels and anything else.
