OFFICAL OTA .zip Installation Guide Droid Razr & Razr Maxx

To People with issues. After running the prep tool and clearing cache data you must reboot into GB then reboot again and go back into recovery and install the update. If you dont reboot into GB you will get endless errors. After you reboot into GB your install should go smooth.

So after numerous unsuccessful attempts to install the ICS update, and after using the RazrUtility I am finally booted into Gingerbread. But slow and backup sync errors.

Could you elaborate what you stated? After running what prep tool? And now that I am back to Gingerbread, would another successful attempt to install ICS work?

Thanks

To the people with issues. Matts utilities works 100%. Run it option 1 before you attempt any installs so you dont join raise the failure rate

I did run option 1. Worked good. But what do you do after option 1. When I rebooted I ended up with a phunked up GB. :(

Sorry to be dumb, but how do I reboot into GB? I'm trying to download Matt's tool now. Did while ago but it wouldn't unpack in my C drive. Trying the download again.

Thanks

Try unpacking in a folder on c drive with the name of you choice worked fine for me

Well I managed to soft brick my phone. Power is now too low to recover (my bad) I should have charged it. I just got my phone on Friday. I've tried all the methods to charge it but nothing seems to work. Looking at buying a factory cable (my soldering skills are severely lacking).

Ok my steps on 5 droid razrs all working great but one having issues with home button.

Put update files on external SD card

Run Step 1 of 1.7 Utility tool

When it finishes Reboot into recovery mode. Using Power button and hold vol up and down at same time. When phone starts rebooting let go of power but keep holding vol buttons.

If you get dead android just press both volume buttons and it will get you to next menu

Clear cache data

Reboot phone using reboot option

Once phone reboots Go into recovery again following same method.

Apply update

If update fails

Do factory reset.

You will lose everything on phone

Reboot into Gingerbread again using reboot link

Reboot into recovery again and apply Update and it should run.

On all my phones after it booted into ics on first boot there was an error so i just rebooted and it loaded up fine

ICS ran extremely slow for about a half hour on all phones but once everything populated and updated there runing great.

Okay, sounds good. I want to be real clear. So....

Put update files on external SD card - (by updates do you mean the ICS update?)

Once phone reboots Go into recovery again following same method. (do I allow phone to reboot all the way, or hold the power volume buttons and right to recovery mode)

Yes ics Update. Yes let it boot up every time fully. If you do a factory reset ( I do recommend doing it I had better success) When you boot into GB you dont have to go through setup just reboot when it gets to the initial Welcome screen.

I am kinda spooked about going any further. However, as my current phone sits, I have a jacked up GB where it is very slow and Backup Assistant wont work. Do you think my problems would also be solved by waiting for the OTA when it comes?

Couldnt tell you. Just telling what worked for me after many many errors wile trying to get it onto first phone And second phone. By 3rd I hadi a working method down. phones 3-5 went without a hitch

error 7 anyone. ran matt's utility both 1 and 2 still nothing but a low bat now. and even the very through write ups can't seem to save me. Anyone near 48602 want to make a few $$ for saving my phone get at me.

I tried the process in the first post but kept getting an error like others. An error 7 code. Decided to try the instructions from (later banned member). Walked through it step by step and had to reboot twice at the end instead of just once, but it worked. I'm now watching my phone download all the apps I had previous loaded on GB. I can't wait to get into ICS and really see what it can do.

For those who are interested, here is the link

Thanks to all who worked on this!!dancedroid:icon_ banana:dancedroid
