Hello I work at wireless advocates (kiosk in costco) We were sent a bulletin today stating the Motorola Droid is is getting a "pushed" software update on Feb 10th
updates will include pinch and zoom web browsing,Speech to text voice recognition, enlarged virtual keyboard, 3d gallery-a whole new way to enjoy music photos and videos, weather channel widget, & enhanced music player. I contacted my verizon data consultant he said it will be a soft push like 2.0.1 some will receive it tomorrow and thru out the week. All new shipments will have 2.1 installed.

thats awesome! thanks for posting this... i mean if live wallpapers are there then so be it... if not im sure they will be eventually... im sure android developers want all phones for be running the same operating system eventually....

I cant wait :icon_ banana:......last time i received my update the morning of day 2......I hope its day 1 this time, probably not, but.....

im hoping we get the talk text the 3d app thingy 2.1:reddroid:...im really liking the smoked glass stuff

What smoked Glass thing..

Okay i mean.. this is my opinion on the whole 2.1.. I mean a lot of us are rooted.. and are running the 2.1 APKs.. the only reason that id go to 2.1 when its released is for Flash and the live wallpapers. I mean other than that what is on there that we can't do on a rooted droid, I hear that that although nexus yone iz 1.0 GHz.. well ill let the quote speak for itself...

What's so special about Nexus One??!!! Seriously??!! For starter it's the first phone that is actually being produced with Google as the backer. Follow that up with a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor compared to the 550mhz Cortex A8 in the Droid and an AMOLED screen.

dont let the numbers fool you.... the snapdragon 1ghz isnt much if any faster then the cortex a8 550mhz.

The current Snapdragons that clock over 600Mhz are definitively based on Cortex A8 cores. Qualcomm was able to get an architecture license from ARM. So the 1ghz snapdragon is almost identical to the Cortex A8 except they have added more pipeline stages to get the extra clock speed. From what i understand the cache size is identical in both chips.

this was taken from another thread. i mean.. is the droid truly that inferior to the nexus and devour that it cant even run the animated wallpapers without getting buggy.

I am not 100% sure but i don't think Devour has live wallpapers. I believe its running Android 1.6 which doesn't support it.
