OFFICIAL: 2.1 to release this week on the Motorola Droid

My money at the moment is on it being released to the first group 3 hours from now.

If that document which was released at noon was supposed to go out at the same time as the update, and the documents release (hehe) was premature, its possible that VZW wanted it to go out at midnight, and somebody put PM instead of AM.

This is all in eastern time, by the way.

Im just as excited as anyone else it here for the release. I just can't see myself losing BB and overclock. sigh... obviously once you upgrade, there's no way to go back if im not mistaken. I think i heard it wouldn't be until they find a 2.1 exploit to root it again. please correct me if im wrong.

I really hope the update does come this week. But In this instance, I'd be willing to believe the tech support rep over the person that maintains Moto's facebook page.

I remember someone saying on this board back in November that techs are not "in the know". Could be, could be not. That being said, I really wish they'd just say "hey, the update won't be out for awhile". to just say nothing is extremely unprofessional to me. This is starting to be borderline ridiculous. we're not dealing with the "Manhattan Project" here.

I understand the whole Google Experience thing. I did however, think the Google Experience was for quicker updates and new google updates. (Cause they didn't have to fiddle with the code around a UI). But if we don't get the full update, then how is it an actual "Google" experience. It just feels like the Droid got pee'd on.

i really dont know. like i completely unrooted. lol. at midnight last night. i just... i dont know. it was very.. abrupt. and very random. but hey. not really. you know? they have been hinting at it for months. i think it will be out soon. i dont think march. cmon? really? it truely doesnt take months and months to "revise" an already made update from google. i know i know im sure its hard and all. but its not like it needed anything done in the first place. i read that moto should just release a beta. for people who want it. and then report bugs. 1. it makes people happy by giving them updates. and it gives a TON of people a chance to test it. instead of motorola and its employees. like why not? why couldnt they just push the google 2.1 over. (you know after making sure it doesnt cause brickage) and then bam! perfect os.

I just got an email from Motorola after I called them and was informed to expect the update next month. But... I didn't give them my email address. I guess they knew it from my phone number? But that doesn't make sense. Weird.
