"My brother works for Verizon, just as a sales rep, and he just told me that he heard the update was bricking phones in their tests and was cancelled until they figure out why. Like i said he is a run of the mill sales guy who i don't know if he heard from any reputable or not."

I hope this is not true, but it does seem as though something is wrong.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

  • The details posted here and on the Support site were prematurely released for public view.
  • They have been removed from both places.

Hope that clears up the confusion."

So the question is... what do we make of this?

Is it delayed? Or was it meant for AFTER the update is rolled out as if everyone got the update and was unsure what it did?

hmmm

Oh yeah. He did a great job clearing up any confusion. I understand everything now.

If I am promised something and they turn around and say oh wait a bit longer we screwed up then I would be unhappy. If 2.1 doesn't release this week than Flash release could be pushed back too(you NEVER know when it would come out but it requires 2.1). People need to stop whining about what wasn't in the update if Motorola feels it left something out then they could release a 2.2 down he road (which is actually already developed).

maybe they read all the raging going on so they decided to delay it to piss people off lol.
or maybe they read all the raging post, and decided to make changes or implement what everyone was complaining about.

live wallpapers
nexus one look
etc.

Hopefully, i wouldn't mind getting the HTC Scorpion's processor on my phone through an OTA. Plus a 2 mega-pixel cam upgrade would really come in handy. If i don't get these things today OTA i am getting the BB Storm 1. :icon_evil:

I see it as a move from a responsible manufacture/developer...

What would the fallout be from releasing a jacked update?

Why does flash require 2.1, as someone said above? The video from adobe previewing it on the droid was running 2.1? Is that confirmed or assumed?

I'm with you on this one. The repercussions could be huge.

It was 2.1, But no one knows what else was modded with the OS to get Flash to run.

I wonder if this is how it will be from now on with regards to the N1 and Droid. The N1 get's the "premium" version of the OS which includes the new home button, extra screens, live wallpapers, and roldex app menu. The Droid gets most of the enhancements but not the flashiest so that Google can differentiate "their" phone from the others, even though the Droid could run those enhancements as well. This disappoints me, but I can't say I'm completely surprised because it seems that to the average consumer (not the folks that are on this board) it's those flashy UI that peak there interest and if Google let's all Android phones have them, there's little reason to buy a phone from Google. Just my $0.02.

I'm inclined to agree with you DJ. I'm starting to think that I clearly misunderstood what this Android/Google "experience" was/is about. I knew they wouldn't update our phones into infinity but, to take out certain things to "prop" one phone up more than another is disappointing to say the least. I know that at some point our phones won't be able to handle the 2.X or 3.X version of android os but, jeez. Can we have the phone more than 5 minutes before you bring out another model that you crown "king of the hill"? I'm not a power user, i.e. I don't use my phone for work.

The main reason I bought the phone is, I finally wanted to get a top of the line mobile device that wouldn't be obsolete before the sun went down. Just from reading about the google/android experience, I came away with the thought that they would keep us totally up to date until the device couldn't support the next OS. Ooops. There I go thinking again. I just feel as though if you know it's not coming this week (I'M not saying they said that), just say it's not. sorry, I just had to get that off my chest.
