Considering they haven't really gotten out of the blocks since the Razr, you would think they would be treating the Droid like an only child....

I find this kind of a funny comment whenever it is made. No, Motorola has not delivered a "revoutionary" phone since the Razr, but most of their devices have been fairly solid and the dumb phone market has been just fine for them.

I can't think of many companies who have delivered a "revolutionary" phone in that timeframe. Kyocera, for one, haven't really delivered many great phones, even few good ones, and yet they are still around. Really, the same can be said for Samsung and many other "budget" phone makers.

People please remember nothing was delayed. VZW tests/releases these updates and it's up to them to decide when it's released not Moto.

Moto jumped the gun and released information prematurely.

It's not delayed, it's just not being released this month.

Pretty immature move by Moto.... I mean we have more than what 2 million droid users?? This is pretty sad.. Stuff like this, you don't expect from big corp eh?

Where did they say it isn't coming out this month? I haven't seen that. Either way these delays are frustrating. Lets hope this doesn't become the norm.

If yo uguys have your pants in a tiffy over this, just root. I guarantee its better than anything VZW/Moto comes up with.

This is no way a dealbreaker. How would you guys feel if they pushed some bug-ridden update out just to please the masses? Imagine the s**tstorm that would ensue? I can bet you that you'd be complaining a lot more than you are just waiting now. ;-)

Remember the old Heinz commercials? "Good things come to those who wait".... Patience Grasshopper! ;-)

First you are all wrong the update is still coming within a week according to moto the only mistake is the noted that matt made purtaining to what the update would or would not include please take the time to read the moto sight forums and all links in it from matt

I've only had my Droid for about 3 weeks now and am curious, how do we get the upgrade when it does come out? With my Blackberry, we had to get our upgrades from sites like Crackberry.com and load them... or does it come over the air as as a program upgrade like the stuff we get from the Market?
BTW.. THIS PHONE TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!:byeBB:
I also came from the BlackBerry world, and hated on how you had to search for the latest OS for your device.
Since I had my Droid since 1/7/10 it came with 2.0 and I got a notification saying there is an update and installed the update, the phone rebooted and have 2.0.1. Just like we will all receive for the 2.1 update minus certain Droider's that have OTA blocked.

Another way you can update like the BB, is to use a custom OS AKA ROM, from one of the many providers that are out there.

No offense Cereal, but if they said we would get it in a week...then pushed it back to next month...isn't that delayed?
Moto said it not VZW......

As I said VZW is responsible for releasing the update and when THEY say it will be released then it will be released.

If it was VZW coming out with that statement then retracting it then yes it was delayed.

Until VZW officially announces it NOTHING is delayed.

people people, good things take time.

a cursory google search shows that the android os contains 11 million lines of code.

adding/subtracting from that to get 2.1 is obviously going to create some bugs. This problem is compounded by having to make the code work on different devices (at least it would seem that way)

do you want your phone but dialing while it's in sleep on the kitchen table? haha

I know we all WANT THIS FRACKIN UPDATE already but, itl'll come when its ready and as bug free as they can make it.

unless they're just messing with us in which case i say "f**k you"

yea i know only like two people will read this but...meh

....you know, a lot of people are on here during work hours...."do you know where your BOSS is?"....rofl....my DROID works perfect for "my" standards of use....no issues except the bluetooth thing....but, SURPRISE, i knew this when i bought it and decided it was a small price to pay....no one owes me an appology, or anything....my call....will 2.1 give me more, it seems so so far....and it's FREE....i really appreciate how well my DROID works for me....if what i have is all there is....it's still more than i will ever use....anyone's right to want more, so go get it....but stop trying to drag people down into this thing already....stop with the blame stuff....yawn
