LOL i dont get it i read that page on phandroid supposedly from motrola, I just dont get how we can not get 5 screens and the option to use animated backgrounds and 3d drawer at least give us the option to use it. If it effects battery life let us as the phone buyer to decide if we want it. There is no reason why we should not get the full version like nexus one got......its just ridiculous

Motorola Forum manager has clarified his statements that BGR and every other blog took completely out of context.

I did clarify my original comment here -- easy to miss. I was only speaking about the notes. And since my information about those was so bad, please excuse me if I make no additional comments. I'm just really sorry that my error resulted in bad feelings for some Droid owners.

Like I've been saying all along. This update will happen by the end of the week.

Once again, nobody knows crap. Anyone that pretends to is only hoping to cash in on getting a guess correct for 15 minutes of celebrity here.

NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, EXPECT EXTREME DISAPPOINTMENT, AND AVOID THESE FORUMS FOR A COUPLE WEEKS!

That is all... :icon_ devil:

lol its impossible. i became addicted at day one. i love these forums. lol.

but yeah. i know matt is kind of beating around the bush. but basically im pretty sure he is saying it wasnt coming out yesterday. but the "this week" update is coming. ok? he said they were jumping the gun with the notes. as they coincide with the release of 2.1. and was 2.1 released? no. so they messed up. maybe it was meant for 12 noon tomorrow? or any other day? who knows. but i am 70% sure we will see it by friday.

ok ladies and gentleman. I have removd a few posts. Please fell free to post your thoughts here, but keep it on topic and about 2.1. Also remeber that DF appreciate you cooperation in continuing to keep these board clean and with out useless words. Thanks and have a nice day

Is it possible it could push over the weekend? I know it says by the end of the week so I am not optimistic that we will see it until then considering the "scheduled" dates which have already been missed. I don't have any hard feelings against google/moto/verizon about this update being less than what was expected except for one thing. I think it is a huge oversight not to include 5 screens from day one IMHO. Given the amount of home replacement apps in the market that offer it, it is clear that this was and is needed. I shouldn't have to download an app to enable it.

Anyone ever consider the possibility that Google included these features in the 2.1 baseline before they were ready for prime time to give the Nexus 1a different look?? From what I understand, these features are buggy even on the N1. Remember, it is not Motorola's responsibility to fix Google's code, only to optimize the kernel, etc... for their hardware. I, for one, would applaud Motorola for leaving out buggy features in any update they roll out.

Unfortunately they are in a lose-lose situation:
1. Leave in these buggy features and have everyone scream about the crappy software and how the can't believe Motorola would release such crap
2. Remove same features and have everyone scream about how they can't believe Motorola would not give them the "full" 2.1 experience.

As to the rumored update this week: Motorola is NOT responsible for the actual release of the OTA update. While they may have been very confident that the build that they provided Verizon was ready for prime time and would be released there was no guarantee that Verizon would do so. The only OFFICIAL release information for any software update to any Verizon phone will have to come from Verizon. I work for a large corporation that is responsible for releasing and supporting software from other large companies. There have been many instances when that company has told our customers a software release was eminent and we decided to hold the release and make said company fix some things we wanted changed.

Cell phone companies Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and the like are all giant control freaks. Let the manufacturers worry about the phones, and you worry about the service. Good grief...

I had to call VZW yesterday (work related) and we got on the subject of the 2.1 update. While i do realize that level 1 tech is pretty much useless sometimes they offer some good insight as long as you ask the right questions. From what they/I understand VZW has nothing to do with the update other than pushing it out to the users. She told me that moto was the one responsible for the update and when Moto is done with it, it will be pushed out. No VZW testing, or anything really. I think with the "open source" aspect of the droid VZW may not have as much control as we think.... Thoughts?

Speaking as someone who works for a company that has to support other companies software, you have to be a bit of a control freak. 99% of the users of a Droid could care less that Motorola makes the phone. They bought it from Verizon and they pay Verizon every month to use it. Anything that goes wrong with that phone automatically is Verizon's fault to them. That's just the way people tend to think. You get my money so you are on the hook.

I believe this is absolutely correct.
