I don't care much about live wall papers and the new app launcher... But i am bummed that they are not coming

what i care about is the 5 home screens and if there is a performance change?

Aren't they coming out with the a new Android phone in fall? No not the Devour or whatever, something else that's suppose to be better than the Droid? If so, I'm thinking they might forget about the Droid.

The only thing that might save the Droid for a long time is Verizon is backing it pretty hard. Then again they also backed the LG Dare hard too and that phone never saw any upgrades out side of bug fixes. So its anyone's guess.
Grey you doubt that the Droid is their flagship device for the years ahead?
Who's flagship? Moto or Verizons?

Verizons? No. Like I said the LG Dare was their flagship for months and they just gave up on it one day out of nowhere.

Moto? Maybe. They haven't had one since the RAZR though, which I never owned, so IDK how they did with that.

Check out this article from engadget.com. It says the update has no live wallpapers, no nexus launcher and no flash! Retarded.

We've just gotten the inside line on the next Droid update that's making the rounds through Verizon's testing department from one of our trusted sources, and overall, it looks like this should take users 95 percent of the way to curing pangs of Nexus One envy. Here's what we've got:
  • It's based on Android 2.1. The build currently being circulated is identified as 2.1 version 1, mirroring the update just pushed to the Nexus One last week.
  • Google Goggles is now pre-installed (no matter how unhelpful it may be).
  • The browser's now multitouch enabled, just like Google Maps 3.4. Huzzah! No Flash, but then again, we weren't really expecting that.
  • Interestingly, the home screen's still got the same look as 2.0.1, meaning it doesn't adopt the Nexus One's rotating 3D grid of app icons -- it's still got the pull-up drawer tab at the bottom.
  • No active wallpapers. Bummer!
  • The news and weather widgets introduced on the Nexus One are included. Maybe certain capabilities of 2.1 are going to be restricted to devices with minimum performance benchmarks?
There's no word on timing, and for all our source knows, this build could still very well fail testing -- goodness knows it's happened with plenty of pre-production firmwares in Verizon's past. We'll keep our ear to the ground and you do the same.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I currently am running bugless beast 7.4. Not sure if I want to update now. Will the option be available to manually update after the OTA has gone through like you could manually update to 2.0.1?

What do you think about the article? Is it ligit?

The Droid will the flagship device for a long time - the other announced phones are all lesser models.

Stop freaking out.

The Devour is going to be running 1.6.

Google Goggles is completely worthless...I downloaded and tried it...it couldn't identify a SINGLE thing in my entire house.

Anyhow, they are already porting things from the Nexus 1 for use with BB and other ROMs. What will the Nexus have (or what does it have currently) that you won't be able to get if you REALLY want it?

Hell this big ass update after all this hype and I couldn't care less about it (from what I've read). What makes you think the next update is going to be any better/different?

Dude you need to chill out or go do something else. For someone who says they can't care less about this update you are sure posting a lot of negativity in this thread. Who cares how many 2.1 threads pop up? you are not being forced at gun point to read them. if you don't 2.1 just block ota and leave those of us still semi excited about 2.1 in peace. we don't need to hear your constant moaning.

Use the ignore function then. This thread is for discussion of the ROM. Some people will agree and some won't.

I'm sick of people being angry this doesnt include flash.

If you think you're getting flash soon YOU ARE AN IDIOT. Can I make it any more clear? Flash will not be coming to ANY phone for many months. It has NOTHING to do with Motorola, Google, or Verizon.

I like google goggles for the contact portion. I could get rid of a lot of the business cards in my wallet. I realize i could put them all in but this is where it really rocks. Even puts the name of the company they work for in there
