"Official"? Bionic battery life thread

Mine was doing really good until I started adding more Apps. I don't know for sure but it seems to be draing the battery more now. I'll have to run some more testing and see if I can find just which app is causing the drain if I can. Any thought on this.....

Task manager most the apps you dont need to run all the time to make sure they're not on in the background

Still having issues with the battery. I had verizon swap out my extended battery today. I charged it in the car. Weird thing is it jumped from 80-100%. Anyway, at 230pm it was at 100% at 830pm i am now at 20% with min useage. I am showing 46% battery is being used by "media" 24% cells standby 16% phone idle 10% dislplay 2% andrdoid system 2% market. I have wifi 4g and bluetooth off. Brightness is set to automatic. Verizon tech people installed advanced task killer on phone yesterday. I only have 4-5 more apps compared to my original droid. I cant figure out what is draining the battery. I am in buffalo ny with a a strong 3G signall. The phone is set for cdma only ( no 4g here). Last 3 days i am averaging 7=8 hours with average use on the extended battery. Most people are getting over 15 hours. IS there some app or way for me to figure out what is going on or what is draining the battery. The phone is rooted not that it matters. Other than this problem the phone is perfect. I spent 8 hours on friday getting it up and running and it is running perfect and smooth and i am very happy with it. I am coming from the original droid with the ext battery. I used to get 14 hours or so with that. Please help!!!!!

After charging the battery on Saturday, and multiple attempts at activation between then and now, I got mine running today. Going on about seven hours now. Moderate to heavy use for the most part, an hour or so of voice calls, lots of downloading apps and playing around with the phone. Set to CDMA only. My battery is at 20%. Trying to kill it before I go to bed tonight so I can charge it up.

I must be lucky. Took my phone off the charger at 9:10 this morning, it is now 10:30. I used my phone for AT LEAST what would be considered moderate usage and I'm at 50%. That's probably 3 hours of streaming music, 15-20 texts, 2 phone calls, and an occasional time killing game or website check/market browse etc etc. Considering this is a dual core, 4.3in 4g phone, I think that's just damn fantastic.

I also just got my phone on Sunday so it's only really been through one and a half charge cycles. Will try to run it down tonight.

12 hours of battery life for me today, I changed my battery during to the lowest, I also have screen brightness turned ask the way down. Heavy use, lots of youtube, internet, Pandora, wifi, it is amazing. Even with the low screen brightness it is close to as bright as my d1. Battery that came with the phone. I also have a ton of apps.

For those of you who got in on the costco deal, how will you be handling the extra battery? what would be the best way to utilize both batteries? completely drain one, put in the other, and repeat?

*sigh*

Three days into my Bionic and this battery is freaking me out. It has a very short life and whilst being out and about this evening, it nearly drained entirely after doing a few web searches talking with friends about the music that was playing at the restaurant. Then I realised if I needed to call a cab to get home safely (cocktails and wine consumption), discreetly, I may be out of luck!

So, I thought: I have at least two of the same batteries for each of my cameras so one could always be swapped out during shooting. Is this what I need to consider with the Bionic?

I see the extended batteries, but I agree about the added bulk is not a popular option and can't find any specs on how much more extended time this accessory adds -- I've done a quick looksy around Motorola US website and these battery product descriptions are quite vague.

I also see there are batteries specified for the XT75 (mine) and the XT76. Are they compatible?

My apologies if this is a slow moving post as many of you enthusiasts have been following the development of the Bionic and/or Atrix. Me? My first Moto Droid died last Friday with ghost operations and dead spots on the touchscreen for no apparent reason. I was stuck by contract by VZN for the crap Two in Two upgrade and my first Droid didn't make it. :frown:

Thanks for any thoughts!

here's my 2 cents. last night i put the phone on the charger when i went to bed at 9:00. battery was at 30%. phone had been off charger for 1 day, 3 hrs. 36 min. this was with moderate use. phone is set to cdma only and battery mode is set to performance. it seems to be better that the d1 i used for a few months and is way better than my old eris was. battery seems to go further every day. bye the way, i got the bionic on release day.

I also am keeping mine on cdma unless I'm netflixing. 4g is awesome for streaming, but doesn't seem necessary for average use.

I am getting horrible battery life with my newly loved bionic. I did a full drain/fill yesterday evening for the first time. Took the phone off the charger and listened to 5 songs on Pandora and was playing Words with Friends for a good hour. I'm on 3 hours off the charger and at 26% battery.

Battery usage states 37% Cell Standy
Display @ 21%
Phone idle @ 18%
Words w Friends @13%
and the other 6 applications at 3% and lower

Battery mode is set to custom
Off Peak hours 10 pm - 8 am
Turn data off after 15 mins
Peak hours - Always on
Display brightness set to MIN.

I'm going to try and do my second drain/fill and hope that helps.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you

If you're playing a game and streaming media the battery is going to drain rather quickly.. especially on LTE.
WWF and/or Pandora dont really require LTE - Try switching to CDMA and run the exact same test and see how your battery reacts.

Wheels,

Sorry I didn't mention, I had shut off pandora while i was playing WWF. It finally drained so i'll try and fill it up and see if that helps. Thanks for the advice.
