"Official"? Bionic battery life thread

I put that badboy in my right pocket or in my shorts extra cell phone holder pocket thingie.

I have never used a holder for a phone - maybe it's my flabby guy that gets in the way that deters me.

Have you found a good holder for the phone with the extended battery? That would be the biggest thing holding a lot of people back. Wish otterbox would make one.

Bionic is a machine to rule all machines, and I use it that way. I have an Exchange account, 2 gmail accounts and 1 yahoo account all on automatic push sync. I also have Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn on automatic sync. My 4G is always on, and it is blazing. Only time I switch to WiFi is to do home/work networking stuff like retrieving files or printing, and that's rare. I am constantly on the browser looking up things, and sometimes during lunch or breaks, I would stream Netflix movies or play games. Oh and, I also stream music through Bluetooth to my car audio system when I'm driving . . . boy does that ever drain the battery ... especially when I'm running GPS navigation and Bluetooth audio at the same time! I guess some would say I'm not using the battery efficiently. Well, I would say I'm using the phone to it's full potential!

To me, one of the biggest selling points of Motorola Droids over iPhones was the swappable battery. I had extra batteries for my older Droid and I got extra batteries for the Bionic too. And at $25 each, the extended batteries are a great bargain right now. I have 2 battery docks - 1 at work and 1 at home, and 3 extended batteries - 1 in each charger at all times and 1 in the phone. This way, I don't worry about low battery. When it dies, I just swap it with the charged one. You can't do that with an iphone! I hate trying to use my phone while it plugged in to the wall to be charged. It diminishes the mobility of a mobile phone!

With my heavy use, the extended batteries are lasting me about 6 to 8 hours (the standard batteries were giving me 3 to 4 hours). On the battery dock, the standard batteries took about 3 hours to charge. The extended batteries are taking about 4 & 1/2 hours to charge. It is true there is no cover for bulkier Bionic with the extended battery. At least I haven't found one yet. But, I'm sure they will make them soon or later.

And I second that all this crap about turning this and that off they are all correct but I dont wanna do that I want to play as much as I can thats why I bought the phone. I must say I am disapointed in the battery life. I didnt expect it to give me 20 hrs or any thing like that but I did expect to be better than my Thunderbolt and dont think it is. Bottom line is if you use your phone your gonna use battery. If I set my phone a side turn off every thing I get great battery life but thats not me.I do appreciate all the tricks for saving battery life just dont wanna do it Thanks

^Sorry, standard battery. It was on wifi the whole time. With 4G I'm lookin at 22-23 hours.

It is heavier but it didnt bother me. I go back and forth between extended and original batteries. I'm getting a solid day with the original and 2-3 DAYS on the extended. It's just preference.

Guess so. I don't like to switch often so I'm trying to make a final decision.

How's GPS on the bionic. Anybody have complaints about it?

My thunderbolt one day is great and another it sucks!

I got lost yesterday driving and it would not find my location. Fails during some horrible times.

That's fine. But you're saying two different, opposite things. You're disappointed in the battery, yet you acknowledge that you're unwilling to do anything to improve it despite many posts that have proven definitively that the Bionic's battery is extremely efficient with even small changes. Just turning background data off, a mostly transparent change, yields a substantial improvement. Yet in the same breath you admit that you just plain refuse to do anything about it.

It's like someone buying a car that should get 30 MPG, drives foot to the floor all the time and then complains why they only get 20 MPG.

I don't have an issue with you choosing not to effect any of these changes that have been suggested. But then don't complain about the battery. At least magi25jj is open about their usage and doesn't throw complaints about the battery; they acknowledge it's their usage that makes the battery less than optimal, and they bought extra batteries to compensate. 8 hours on the extended battery is telling.

its def a signal issue on the bionic that kills my battery at work yesterday i was out side all day helping my buddie move and through out the day i was checking football scored and texting and so on few phone calls surfing the web i unplugged the phone from the charger at 10 am when i got home at 10 pm 12 hours later the phone was at 75% still thats pretty dam good if u ask me as long as u have good reception

I'm a moderate to heavy user and I get very good battery life, there are two things you can do to improve battery life, go check your running apps and close the ones your not using and connect to power when using GPS.
