OFFICIAL: Droid 2 Pre-Release thread

Wow, What we're going to have for 'phones' a year or so from now just boggles the mind. Ever since I got my Droid, I've hesitated to call it a phone, more of a "personal communications device". Soon it will be your primary computer, and TV (maybe your DVR), and so much more. And if you're not on AT&T, it'll still make phone calls.

Seriously, what we're heading to is mind blowing.

Droids is it safe to say you're officially a Motorola fan now and will be sticking with the Moto Droid into the future? : )

Now the REALLY scary part? The OMAP 44XX is just BEGINNING. We will actually begin to see the full potential of mobile devices based on ARM SoC's by the middle to end of 2012. Yes I know. That seems like a LONG ways away. In reality it is a year and a half. When you see some of the things I have you will literally soil yourself.

Well they better release a phone before the end of 2012. I don't want to spend my last days on the earth daydreaming about it just to have the world end in Dec. and never even get to touch it. :icon_evil:

Darkseider:

U and cereal killer had us at OMAP. Yall complete us.

I dont even want to see a phone try to do dual screen, unless it slides out like a keyboard...or it has 3 screens: the main screen on the front/top would be for the phone and system, then it flips open to a dual screen on the backside........it could have a full size virtual keyboard on the bottom screen.... or like the droid is but instead of a physical keyboard, the slideout would be a virtual keyboard, and menu keys, and whatever else, and the top screen is used full screen, instead of the black border and menu keys, its all screen........hmmmmm.

I think I might copyright this idea......

Damn, I forgot about the earpiece for the phone.....LOL!!!!

Only owned one LG, the VX8000. Otherwise, I Like Moto.

I'm pretty jazzed right now. I'm starting a savings fund so I don't have to wait 2 years for an upgrade ever again. Figure a new one every 9 months or so. Maybe less.

Well, I just finished reading all 50 pages of the thread on Howard Forums and here's what I believe to be the known specs for the Shadow:

 • It's currently named MB810 for FCC purposes
 • When released, it will be called the Droid Extreme
 • Has a 4.1" screen
 • Powered by a TI OMAP3630 ARM Cortex A8
 • Has an 8MP camera with Dual LED Flash
 • Records video at 720p
 • Outputs 720p video through HDMI
 • Has between 2-8GB of internal storage
 • Has no QWERTY keyboard
 • Has 4 buttons at the bottom like the HTC HD2
 • Currently runs Android 2.1 with Moto Blur, but Verizon doesn't want to pay for Blur to be on the phone, so we'll see
 • Is all black, square and has a metallic red camera button
 • Is about 9mm thin
 • Is slated for July release only on Verizon

I didn't hear it called Droid Extreme, but I could easily be wrong. Heard someone in the know suggest it might be called the Phantom. I kinda like Extreme though, to rival the Incredible. It has a good sound to it.

Ok then I'm sitting tight. My Moto is taking a dump. So gotta go through the hassle of rerooting and putting a custom rom on it....
I can hold out as long as it's rooted and customized....
