OFFICIAL Droid X Issues/Problem Thread

Unitic.....Are you serious? Is this your first smartphone?

The people on this board know infinitely more than all the Verizon "Tech Support", if you can even call it that, and motorola people put together.

Newbee

Yup. First one. Good to know that there is that depth of help here. I'm sure I'll be asking now and then. Am surprised there are so many problems though. I'll tell ya, this Droid X sure is light years ahead of my old Chocolate!

Navigation Data Lost

Wait, so your navigation actually paused/stopped when you got an incoming call?! One of my gripes is that it kept going when I got an incoming call... Do you use hands-free bluetooth in your car? Was this after the update?

In my experience, the call screen pops on...but the running NAV process is disrupted. When you can find the NAV screen, it displays a sort of intertial approximation of your location and the suggestion that the user "follow the route". You lose the 2 1/2 D view and vehicle orientation. Definitely disorienting.

Last night I had a call during NAV but did not have a problem. So...an intermittent issue.

I failed to take into account that S/W and firmware updates are not pushed to the platform. Accordingly, I've been on

1.13.516.MB810.Verizon.en.US

2.1 update 1

for this trip. I realize now there is a new build out; will report on future experience when it's installed.

Road Trip Issue No. 4

One additional issue I've had a couple' times: phone display is "off", locked and muted. Incoming call: display on, answer/ignore buttons appear but pressing either button has no effect.

As indicated previously, was working off:

1.13.516.MB810.Verizon.en.US

2.1 update 1 (firmware)

If I experience it again with the new build, I'll confirm the post.

I noticed this same exact issue. I used the car dock and car charger together from a Verizon store. On a 3 hour drive using the turn-by-turn Nav system my battery was slowly draining.

The next day I tested it by wearing the battery down, then connecting it using the car dock and charger but without using gps and barely even touching it as I drove and sure enough it charged.

I guess with the GPS activated it drains faster than it is charging? This does not seem right.

In my case, the issue was mechanical. If I used a Droid case without the docking station spacer, the connector wasn't long enough to deliver voltage over the USB connector for charging. When I took off the case and used the docking station spacer, the charging was OK. Ran FM, GPS, Bluetooth, MP3 and unit remained charged.

I have zero reception on this joke of a phone. I can't believe I'm saying I want my Storm 1 back. My house has bad reception to begin with (I live 15 miles out of NYC go figure), but my storm 1 and even my fathers 5+ year old razor work like a charm compared to this overpriced brick. What gives?

I called Verizon they tried every work around they could think of, and nothing. I had to drive 5 miles away just to get any reception whatsoever. Do I escalate it now to the point to ask them to check the antennas in the area?

It may just be the service at your house, i say do what i had to do and buy the verizon network extender Click here to learn more

I know service is spotty at my house. But again, a Razor gets better reception and can handle extended calls. That just simply should not be. And spend more money on this phone and get a network extender, no thanks?

Over the weekend I was across the river from NYC and had a 4 hour spot where texts would not send or receive. It's the phone.

Honestly, I'm pretty happy with the droid x minus a few issues with the stitcher widget. My 2 main issues are:

1) I wish we could zoom in the camcorder mode

2) I can't seem to be able to set up the "photo slideshow " widget. I loaded some pics onto the sd card from my old phone and I can't figure out how to get it so that the widget cycles through the pics in a file when I select particular picture from a file.

Otherwise, I haven't had any issues.

i cant get my droid x to rotate screen orientations at all. not on the browser, text, nothing.

My phone still shows All Contacts even after selecting Google as the group. I just want my facebook contacts that are also google contacts to have the pictures sync. This was so easy to get with the original Droid.

Droid X wifi issue?

Anyone have issues staying connected to wifi? I just switched from a Droid and I have 5 other smart phones in my home that connect to wifi all of the time. The Droid X will connect fine but will then stop sending and receiving data....It still THINKS it has a connection but it doesn't. "forgetting" the wifi settings and reconnecting are the only things that seem to work.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

Me! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one. Very frustrated about this. I can't even finish a YouTube video because of this issue. On top of that, YouTube's video and audio are out of sync.

tried uploading a 720p video to youtube, says theres an error that the file size cant be over 1gb, the actual video however is only 200mb. anyone else getting this error?

Same here, it will lose internet but indicate that it's still connected.
