OFFICIAL Droid X Issues/Problem Thread

Anyone having video playback issues with the X? All of my old videos (including the one filmed on my old Moto Droid) are really choppy and the audio is out of sync. At first I was thinking it had somthing to do with HD but I do not think so. That just makes the old ones look really bad as is expected. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe the sd card pre-installed in the phone or perhaps another card you may have put in your phone isn't of a class that supports .wmv or .avi or whatever format your videos are in. I know that the card pre-installed obviously supports HD video recordings, but your old videos might not be supported

when i connect my DX to the comp it doesnt recognize the SD.

also this might be a dumb question but how to i open it frm the back to

take out the SD card ?

Connect the phone to your pc. Then slide down the slidebar at the top and change the USB connection method.

I've found that if you want to put music or pictures or video on your phone, it will only work when you put it in "USB Mass Storage" Mode. Windows Media Sync, for some reason (at least in my case), recognizes my phone initially but removes it from wmp before I can sync

I have zero reception on this joke of a phone. I can't believe I'm saying I want my Storm 1 back. My house has bad reception to begin with (I live 15 miles out of NYC go figure), but my storm 1 and even my fathers 5+ year old razor work like a charm compared to this overpriced brick. What gives?

I called Verizon they tried every work around they could think of, and nothing. I had to drive 5 miles away just to get any reception whatsoever. Do I escalate it now to the point to ask them to check the antennas in the area?
be specific when yu call in ( address, zip ect...) it may be just a transciever issue and the device needs to be replaced. these are mass produced so there will be few lemons

Droid X wifi issue?

Anyone have issues staying connected to wifi? I just switched from a Droid and I have 5 other smart phones in my home that connect to wifi all of the time. The Droid X will connect fine but will then stop sending and receiving data....It still THINKS it has a connection but it doesn't. "forgetting" the wifi settings and reconnecting are the only things that seem to work.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

I've spoken with both Verizon and Motorola. It's a known problem that appears to be showing up due to numerous reasons all software related. Some people get around it by changing their network set-up. For example Verizon wanted me to drop my network back to G (I have my network set for Mixed), as that seemed to help a lot of people, I said no way, I want the N speed from my N devices. Some have gotten around the problem by changing network encryption from AES to TKIP - I tried and it didn't help me. The one thing that did work for me was setting my router to "N-Only" - I can't leave it that way, but at least I can get email and browse the internet over wifi - however there are other devices in my home that need G, so it's not an acceptable fix. Also I've never had a problem connecting to the router - connects almost instantly. However, can't browse or get email. Go figure.

Motorola and Verizon say a software fix is underway, no promise on when - we could only hope it comes packaged with Froyo.[/QUOTE

Even if it has a connection it's often slow and sporadic. 3g is often faster.

How do you get clear/delete the recents folder

How do you clear/delete the recents folder obtained by selecting a folder widget then selecting recents... when you open, it shows all your recent texts and phone calls even though you my text messages have been deleted from text or call history?

Droid does...not

I will start with email problems. Errors with all email accounts besides the gmail. The recent problem with yahoo is that for some reason my Droid X keeps changing the password so when I look at the account it has a bunch of characters I did not write in my password slot and then will not connect. Anyway, it is working for now and that is not my biggest problem. It sucks because I am coming from a iPhone 4 and this is my first Droid. I use to be able to make calls in my home. Not anymore. Long story short about that is nothing can be done. All the BS about iPhone 4 and my Droid X has been way worse. I do have another Droid X in the mail to replace this and I hope it fixes my problems. 2nd major problem is the BS "HOTSPOT". This feature was a major reason for wanting to get the Droid X. It has already been said and there is no need for me to add how I also am not able to use the HOTSPOT how I am supposed to. Instead of Motorola putting more ads about the iPhone 4 and it's problem out it should get IT'S OWN HOUSE IN ORDER.
Now I have about 20 days left before I need to decide if I stay with Verizon or go back to AT&T. I know first hand each device and carrier has it's strength's and weaknesses. ALL. I already go outside with my Verizon Android to make calls but I at least want the phone to work how it is supposed to outside.

I am not sure I understand what the problem is but if you have a week VW signal at/in your house then you certainly should not be blaming the Android OS or Droid X.

UPDATE: I did not mean to imply that ANDROID OS or MOTOROLA is at fault for the weak signal at home. When Verizon starts rolling out their new network hopefully my city is included because Verizon rep believes that will penetrate homes and buildings better. Although I live in San Diego which is heavily populated Verizon should have this area covered better. One of Verizon reps admitted that others are also having problems in my area.
But Motorola is at fault for people who have defective screens (which I did not have but others have had) and people like me who are having mobile "HOTSPOT" problems. I really believe ANDROID OS and iOS have pros and cons. One of the things I love about ANDROID OS is that I don't even have to ROOT my phone to tether it to my laptop. To me, this is great. Apple will not allow apps that do that. But iOS is a very well polished system and user friendly. etc, etc.

I used Fring to do a two way video call from my DroidX to a friend with the Original Droid (Not sure of its name)

His video streamed awesome, mine he said froze after just a second or two

--------------------------------

I used USteam Broadcaster and tried viewing my broadcast on my home PC with comcast cable..... it also froze 1 or 2 seconds after the start

--------------------------------

I used my home PC with comcast cable to broadcast from UStream and view the broadcast with the App UStream Viewer Beta on my Droidx it also froze 1 or 2 seconds after the start

---------------------------

I used the App QIK it also froze 1 or 2 seconds after the start

---------------------------

All allowed the Audio to stream, just not the video

Is this a know problem with the DroidX?dancedroid

(I LOVE my DroidX, just working through a problem or two :heart:dancedroid)

Defective units

I just got off the phone earlier today with Motorola and this is news to me. I have been having problems with the HOTSPOT feature and wanted to know any info on updates to fix this. The Motorola rep said all Droid X units that are having issues with the HOTSPOT need to send the device in. Meaning no software update will fix my phone or others like me. I just wanted to put this out there so other people who are having the same issue will get their expensive device working properly.

how do i set gmail to be the default email composer? for some reason my hotmail under "mail" account is the only option. Anyone find away around this or am i missing something? thanks in advance

I've been having trouble with getting the camera to focus on close up shots. Also, in camera mode I can see this very faint pixel line going across the screen. Only in camera mode though. Weird

I shoot two videos yesterday thinking I could put them on my computer and then edit them in my camtasia and I can do so cause they are in .3pg file and I need really anything else. Does anyone know of a converter I can use?

Do a reset, turn the phone off and when turning it back on hold the option key (left most key) and the power button down
