~OFFICIAL: FRG01B FroYo Issues/Solutions Thread~

For those who also installed Flash, is anyone else unable to control media volume?

Sent from my Droid

I also can not control the volume, I don't even find a shortcut anywhere on my phone to the flash player, thought maybe I could look at the settings of the flash player and change something to make it better butdont have it listed anywhere but the manage apps list where you can uninstall it is the only place I see it.

Hey guys, I hate to be posting in this thread but this is bugging me. I've pulled the battery and held the power button down while the battery is out, left battery out for 30 minutes, etc.

Here's the problem I'm having. I installed this update on 8/3/10, and have had no problems until yesterday.

The entire section in red basically doesn't work, including the menu (on the bottom between BACK and HOME) button. I can't press the phone call button right above the menu button (next to back and home at the bottom, not on the screen part)On the keyboard in portrait mode, it's either the letters A or G, not SDF. When I unlock my phone, the unlock bar just hops across that screen... it's like the phone won't register that my finger is there. When I turn the phone to landscape mode, I can't type "ASDFGHJKL", it either goes to the row above that or below that. It's really driving my nuts and is virtually rendering my phone useless. Again, it's like it doesn't register that my finger is in that area.

Can anyone offer help? If I can't fix this, screw 2.2.

2.2 Problems

Hi all,

I've been having some problems with my phone ever since I did the manual update to 2.2 (I just read there are bugs with it so the OTA is being delayed).

Ever since I updated to 2.2, my battery life has been awful. I used to be able to go about two and a half days without charging, now I'm lucky if I can make it a day.

The biggest problem I have been having though is reception issues. I used to range from -68 dbm to -82 dbm in my apartment. Now it always ranges from -92 to -100 (usually hanging on the latter). People will call me and my phone won't even ring, so I do not even know how many calls I am missing. I also won't receive texts for sometimes up to 6 hours after people send them.

I took my phone to the Verizon store here and the guy told me that my city (West Lafayette, IN) is being updated to 4G. I argued and said that shouldn't be causing my reception issues. He then told me to call tech support. I haven't done that yet.

I was thinking of putting a custom ROM on (CyanogenMod maybe). But the problem is I haven't found a way of rooting my phone yet since I'm running 2.2. Could I put 2.1 back on and then root and install a custom ROM?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I manually updated to 2.2 also.. I then did the same as you are wanting to do.
I was already running 2.2 and flashed SPRecovery using RSDlite.
It flashed fine. then installed to UD5.0.1...

Now running Froyo 2.2 FRG22 Rooted

Been using the phone now for 17hrs with no issues and Batt is still 70%

I downloaded and ran the new 2.2 (FRG01B) update to my stock Droid (2.1) with no major issues. I did notice like others that the Wi-Fi icon doesn't show any signal strength bars either. It still connects and works but if you look into the Wi-Fi settings it shows "connected" with Poor signal quality even when it is less than a foot away from my router?? It really doesn't seem to be loading web pages quite as fast as it did before either with Wi-Fi or 3G.There are some small delays when going back to Home screen and the menu with all of the icons won't move immediately and after 5-10 seconds... and it then will respond. I downloaded the Flash 10.1 beta file from the Megaupload link posted. I downloaded it twice with the same results. When I try to install the update it tells me "Unable to Parse" and would not load the file at all.... so no Flash for me?? All of my apps seem to be working though but it's honestly not as smooth and fast as it was with 2.1 after numerous re-boots and battery pulls. Nothing major, just not much of an improvement I was hoping for.

Will the next OTA FRG22 update still install over my downloaded FRG01B update??

Battery life is a big issue, it doesn't last as long. Phone is slow like windows mobile . I'm going to go back to 2.1 or get a rom.

I rooted with Easy Root and then installed CyanogenMod. Seems to have solved my problems. Still don't have the best reception, but at least I'm not at -100 dbm. Currently going between -80 and -88.

I seem to be having an issue with swiping left or right to get to another screen. If I wake my phone up and try to swipe in either direction, 90% of the time it won't work on the first try. Same thing if I just get out of using an app for a bit, first try at a swipe won't work. I'm using the exact same pressure, speed, everything. Not sure if this was happening before the 2.2 update or not, but I certainly notice it now.

I've noticed the same thing. So what I'm training myself to do is not swipe on the home screens. There are buttons at the bottom of the home screen on either side of the bar. If you press them you can move the screen left and right between the home screens. I've just tried to train myself to press those instead of swiping.

The LED issue is still kind of strange to me. When the screen is off, the LED works with texts, but it seems that when the screen is lit the LED won't show when texts come in. Don't know if this is a purposeful feature, but it doesn't seem to be a huge deal.

Battery life is much much better since I uninstalled my task killer. Pretty much back to 2.1 level.

I did the manual update to Froyo last week and since then every time I hook up to my computer by USB the computer goes into the new hardware found routine. It never finds a driver and now I have no access to the phone directory. Ay idea where I can get the drivers needed. This is for Droid 1, not rooted but with Froyo 2.2 on a Windows machine with XP SP3. Thanks.

Holding X while turning on power results in a triangle with an exclamation point in it instead of going into recovery. How do cure this problem?
