~OFFICIAL: FRG01B FroYo Issues/Solutions Thread~

Holding X while turning on power results in a triangle with an exclamation point in it instead of going into recovery. How do cure this problem?

Isn't that what it's supposed to do?

That sounds normal to me.

Remember to hold volume up and press the camera button.

I did the manual update and everything is okay, except when i open the gallery it force closes unless i quickly tap a picture then it opens but if i go back to the main gallery screen it fc on me. i have rebooted, did battery pull, doesn't matter.

I'm having this same issue can anyone help??
It's becoming to where I can't even use the Gallery!

My Droid seems to be running slower. When in home screen, I have to wait a few seconds for my Widgets and apps to appear... are the two new pages doing this? Is it my live wallpaper?
I have a feeling that my solution is to go with a static wallpaper, or removed a widget or two. Anyone else getting this, or have a solution?

Ediit: I have also looked everywhere and can't find the iTunes streaming. Anyone found it?

My Droid 1 has been running slower too. I have Launcher Pro and the home screen just takes forever to refresh. And....since I use Advanced Task Killer, I have like 12 to 18 programs that are running in the background, nearly all the time. Once I kill them, they pop back up within a few minutes. Any ideas? Anyone?dancedroid

Android 2.2 (Froyo) questions, comments and concerns

So i just did the manual update to 2.2 today (the full install not the patch thing released last week.) from 2.1 and had a few things i noticed that were kind of off. Hoping to find some answers and possible tips as to see just whats going on in my new OS i turned to you.

1) The Browser. I really like the stock droid browser. Its definitely faster with 2.2 and it's very simple to use. Plus there's a nice button at the bottom of every page to open it. So based on those pro's i haven't seen a need to get a new one... until now. Every time i close the browser then use my task killer to end the program (System Panel, which was updated today as well for Froyo compatibility) the last page i was looking at still shows up which makes me think. Is there a way to get it to when i close the browser then reopen it my homepage shows up? I really like just opening the browser and it was right at google. I know that might sound really dumb but i liked that a lot. Secondly does that mean that possibly the browser never actually closes? Which brings me to my next question.

2) Task Killers. Do they work in 2.2? I just got the update today for System Panel which says its Froyo compatible. However whenever i use the app to end programs to save some battery it shows that somewhere between 12 to 15 apps are running. And that's not just the ones in the background. Programs to which i don't even have widgets for are running. I never saw that when i ran 2.1. Whenever i used the app's widget i would only be closing 2-5 depending on how much crap i was using. However now apps just seem to want to open on their own. My question is do these apps really kill my battery that much and is that why my battery life is shortened by so much after the update? I have used other task killers like advanced task killer and whats that free one with the stupid looking fat droid for the picture...doesn't matter they all did the same thing.

3) The battery life. Now i don't really expect this to be answered right away cause the update just came out but is everyone else getting really terrible battery life compared to 2.1? I used to be able to run Pandora with my wireless connected for about 9 hours. Yes 9 hours! I know cause i listened to it a lot at work. Now after the update i cant even run the music player for about 4 hours without being at 30% battery and Pandora kills my battery's life even worse. I have heard a few things about Pandora not liking Froyo but i don't know exactly what they are.

4) The Alarm clock. Now i know this isn't really a question about 2.2 but its been bothering me ever since i got my droid. Anyone know of a good alarm clock app that i can get that doesn't require me to do math when i wake up? I didn't mind the old one but now with Froyo you have to go through the clock app and then to the alarm in that. I just want a simple alarm clock that i can set before i go to bed after a night of heavy drinking and not have to deal with the math in the morning and the extra windows before i go to bed.

Well there's my questions i have about 2.2 and the changes. Mostly i just put this up to see if other people were having similar problems or if I'm just losing my mind a bit. I love my phone and love Froyo but I really hope these are annoying enough to everyone else out there that updated. Mostly I'm hoping someone smarter than I am though can help me out with some of the things that have been running through my mind ever since I updated.

Swype stop working with newest verion of 2.2( the non patch one). Any ideas? I tried deleteing and reinstalling with no luck. I email them with no response back.

I read somewhere that froyo doesn't work well with task killers. I would remove it and see..

1. It seems to be a "feature" of every browser. It does it constantly to me on xscope and I hate it, I saw another user post that it does it on Dolphin HD also.

2. Dont use a task killer, they cause more problems than theyre worth. End of story.

3. I tend to get about 7-13 hours depending on usage, but then again im overclocked and Ive never used one of the official OTAs or leaks I run source based roms so I cant comment on this.

4. Cant you turn that off in the settings? I dont see it on my clock but then again mine looks like the 2.1 clock IDK I use gentle alarm from the market as my alarm clock and "clock" as my dock app that launches.

2 different droid phones, same MAJOR ISSUE OCCURED!!

1 running FRG01B manual install (not rooted), and one running FRG22 (rooted).

My wife (FRG01B stock) and mine (FRG22 rooted) just had a text messaging issue within an hour of each other. Hers happened first, then mine.

Basically, we've been upgraded to Froyo for almost a week, now, and have had zero issues so far. Both use text messaging quite a bit, and a lot to each other. We were in the middle of a conversation, and somehow when she replied to me, the reply went to another person in her contacts. This happened a couple times.

The "solution" was a reboot, and her problems were done.

Then about an hour later, in the same conversation, my reply to her went to Chase bank (one of my contacts). I got a response back from Chase saying, "We did not understand your response", but instead of being labeled from Chase, it was labeled from another one of my contacts!!!

I rebooted, and haven't had a problem yet...

Also, when this error occurs, on either phone, ALL text messaging threads/conversations are wiped out/deleted without any user input/notification.

Both phones are running the stock Messaging program. She uses facebook, I don't. Basically, we don't have any identically loaded apps other than Advanced Task Killer, which neither of us use for auto-kill, and it's not running in the background.

If anymore info is needed, please PM me and I'll update the thread and/or respond to PM. Thanks!!

3. If you didn't do a battery pull ater updating to 2.2 I would suggest one. Also, if you updated last week using the "patch" 2.2 you may want to try re-updating with the "full" 2.2 which was leaked this week. That has helped some people.

I have a problem. I have a website open in the browser and then i go to use advanced task killer and then i go into browser later and that same website from earlier is still open as if the browser never got killed by the task killer. This happens with a stock browser and dolphin browser hd i also tried using task panel as well as advanced task killer but same problem using both. I'm confused !

Your problem is using task killer. It's not needed, and you really don't need to worry about the browser either. Task killers are not only unnecessary, as you point out they sometimes don't work.

Yea i did the patch version a week ago and it was really slow and annoying with some of the same problems i talked about. so i went and did the full update yesterday with the battery pull so only time will tell i guess if that fixes some things. hopefully cause some of its pretty annoying.

I seem to be having an issue with swiping left or right to get to another screen. If I wake my phone up and try to swipe in either direction, 90% of the time it won't work on the first try. Same thing if I just get out of using an app for a bit, first try at a swipe won't work. I'm using the exact same pressure, speed, everything. Not sure if this was happening before the 2.2 update or not, but I certainly notice it now.
Same here. It's very annoying, frustrating and unproductive.

I've noticed the same thing. So what I'm training myself to do is not swipe on the home screens. There are buttons at the bottom of the home screen on either side of the bar. If you press them you can move the screen left and right between the home screens. I've just tried to train myself to press those instead of swiping.... (snipped for brevity)
If the phone didn't have a swipe screen, your idea would be a great option. Unfortunately, that doesn't make sense on this phone.

Hopefully, this is one of the reasons VZW pulled the OTA. Doubtful but perhaps it's related to some other issue that will be fixed on the next release. (Where's the praying icon?)
