~OFFICIAL: FRG01B FroYo Issues/Solutions Thread~

Can you root a 2.2 FRG01B?

I want to root my phone for a few reasons; try FRG22, Overclocking w/ PSX4Droid, and to play with ROMs.

Is it safe to follow a 2.1 guide to root/any guide to do so from 2.2 FRG01B or is there no way to root once updated?

Again, I'm using FRG01B. It wasn't OTA, it was manual.

hi, just new to the site. Forced the new 2.2 froyo update aswell, and i also had the same question, if you can root the phone with the new update or if you have to roll back to 2.1....thanks

Texting Issue

When i go to select someone from my Texting inbox to text. It will sometimes bring up the wrong person. Is there any fix for this?

Thanks

2.2 running fine

Got the update yesterday morning, did a complete install of swype and got flash from megaupload everything is working fine. Do I understand correctly that there is an update for the update? Dog

solved

Yes. Maybe Launcher Pro doesn't work with 2.2?

You build the app for the OS, not the other way around. I'd email the developer.

Don't think that's the problem. Others have said Launcher Pro is working fine.

problem solved. I had to go into Settings > Appllications > Manage Applications > Clear Defaults for each home replacement.

Has anyone else had issues with YouTube since the update? Everytime I try to play a video, it has terrible lag & you can't actually view the video.

Also, had a wierd problem. I had several contacts assigned to a music ringtone that isn't even on my phone. There were a couple, one was "Stuck on You"... ironic.

Other issues :
-serious homescreen lag after closing apps

not sure if this was posted somewhere in this thread yet, but got too tired of clicking through every page..

maps has not worked on my phone since i received the froyo update yesterday afternoon, when opened i just get a blank page for a while and then it FC everytime.

lame.

OTA 2.2 + Android Keyboard in landscape = No letters in textbox

Didn't see this posted... just got the 2.2 OTA yesterday morning. I'm on a Droid 1.

Works fine in portrait... letters I type on the virtual keyboard show up in the textbox... but in landscape, nothing shows up, but the text is there when I press on send/submit/go/whatever. If I use the slideout keyboard it works fine in either orientation.

Anyone else? Someone have a fix?

I can honestly say that this is the first time I've seen this mentioned. I don't believe there is a fix for it, but you can try a factory data reset out of your privacy section and see if that gets everything working again.

If it doesn't you probably need to visit Verizon and ask why their OTA update screwed up your Droid?

Ummm... does a factory data reset do what I think it will do? Wipe my Droid completely? Including all the installed apps? Will it still be 2.2 afterwards?

Yes it will wipe your data and your apps. But your paid apps (and sometimes all) of your apps will be in your download folder in the Market after you sign back in. All your contacts will return upon sign in.

Yes, it's a bit of a pain. Just did it myself the other day but there's a good chance that will fix your issue.

That is unless you have a better idea. :)

lol... clearly I don't have a better idea... other than use the slideout keyboard (which I only recently discovered is accessible on both the desk and car cradles)! :) Will it still be on 2.2 or is it restoring to how it showed up on my front step?

I'm not sure if this helps anyone or is just merely amusing. Ever since my Droid (unrooted) was updated to 2.2, the battery life is somewhat worse and it runs hot. I e-mailed verizon and they told me to "use the phone sparingly" and take it into a store for "troubleshooting." The technical support guy there told me that it was to be expected and not to worry. He actually said if it burns out before December (end of warranty), then they'd hand me a new phone.
