ok, i have been having issues with the OTA update. i have resorted to flashing the ESE81 sbf file. I booted the phone (skipped all the google stuff and didnt sign in) and it started to download 2.2.

I let it download, and let it update. The update fails and leaves the phone at the triangle with the yellow ! in it. I go into stock recovery from there and see this:

Also...I flashed the 2.01 and a couple other 2.1 sbf images. Same issues: failed to update to 2.2

Also...After i reboot after the failure to update, it thinks it is current and does not notify me of the 2.2 update any longer.

installed 2.2 last night and now my alarm click seems to be missing...any help?

edit: i figured it out....why would they take the menu icon away for it? seems trivial but it was nice having a 1-click alarm clock.

Update help

I'm trying to do the manual update to 2.2 on my girlfriends phone. I noticed she is still on the 2.0.1 software because she has never received an OTA update. I was looking around for the manual 2.1 update software but can't find a site that still has it.

Can I go straight from 2.0.1 to 2.2 with out any problems? Or is there a way to get her phone operating right? She also can't download anything from the internet, it always says download failed.

you will want to update to 2.1. some of things that aren't patched in 2.2 got patched in 2.1. i would try and find the update or take the phone to verizon.

"FRG01B (Master OTA) *"

This is a complete system folder dump, so it should be able to upgrade any version.

Use Dolphin HD and press it's Exit button when done.

Don't kill tasks.

Do you have to rename to update.zip then reboot while holding x to use that one?

So then, it's recommended to pull the battery after the Update, even if you're not having issues?

Copy to SD card
rename to update.zip
power phone off
power on while holding X on keyboard until you see exclamation point screen.
press volume up + camera button while on the exclamation point screen
wipe cache
install update.zip
reboot.

i just found out the droid is not compatable with i tunes?????
