~OFFICIAL: FRG01B FroYo Issues/Solutions Thread~

Well I have spent the day reading up to page 43, and I mean every single post. I have seen some stuff to try, like I redid my update from the SDcard and some things seem ok now. I do have my phone trying to charge right now, and on this last 10%, my charge is going back and forth occasionally and will not finish unless I touch it. I think it did this last night too, cause this morning it was blinking red and died. I have lag, and this update has nice features, but I miss the stability. Anyone else having a charge issue like mine?

Try turning the screen off and let it sit for a while. If after two hours of non-use it still won't charge, run the battery down till the phone shuts off (cycling the phone, not the battery, despite what it sounds like), then plug it in and let it sit, untouched, for two more hours. If it still won't charge, it sounds like you have a bad battery.

Lithium Ion/Polymer batteries have a tremendous energy storage capacity for their size/weight, but they're far from durable.

Manually updated to 2.2, and want info from 'old' phone internal memory

Thanks to everyone here, I was able to manually update my new phone to 2.2, after receiving a replacement phone with 2.1 still loaded.

Last week, I received the OTA update of 2.2, and the phone locked up. I went to Verizon, and they gave me a new phone. I lost all of the apps of coarse, but they were easy to reload. My biggest loss was my accounting info in an app called Loot.

After charging the battery with the new phone, I tried to manually install 2.2 on the old phone, and it worked! Unfortunately, since I activated the account on the new phone, the old phone will not allow me to see any of the info from my installed apps (either that, or the system reset that they tried in the store worked, even though the phone was locked in the boot screen when we tried it).

I know that the info from Loot, provided the system reset didn't work, should be in RAM or something on that old phone. I was an idiot, and didn't save this to the sd card regularly.

I have to send this old phone back to Verizon soon, and was wondering if anyone has any idea on how to access internal phone memory with stock setup (since I can't load Astro to see a folder view).

2.2 wont let me use my ring tone from before

Ever since the 2.2 update my Droid wont let me set a ring tone that was working just fine before the update. I can find it using Astro and when selecting it the option to set it as a ring tone is greyed out. Any thoughts?

What kind of file is it? I've heard about some people who had issues with files made with Windows Media. If you make them .mp3 files you shouldn't have any issues.

Now why that is an issue now and not before, I don't know.

I've never tried it myself, but *228 option 3 gives you the ability to change phones. As I found on another site, you select option 3 and get a message that you must be calling on the device you want to activate and you must turn off the previous device.

Next you're asked to input the 10 digit phone number you want changed to the new device and after doing that you're asked for the last 4 digits of your SS number, then you get the normal "Please hold while your phone is being programmed."

Assuming that works you'll have your old phone operational, get what you need and switch back.

Are you sure the info isn't on the sd card? Can you remove it and put it in a card reader to see what's there? Normally that sort of stuff is put on the sd card.

problems continue

So I've done a full factory reset and I'm still getting the same problems as I was before. My sister came by today and she has a droid as well....and she has the same exact problems that I do! Redraw issues, gallery slow to open, youtube playback problems, choppy animations, home screen swipes not being recognized, etc. We are both running stock moto droids, and both of our phones worked perfectly fine prior to 2.2.

I'm sick of the moderators and others saying to do a factory reset or take the phone to verizon...the phone is not the problem, its the update. Why would the phone work perfectly fine using 2.0 and 2.1, but all of a sudden froyo not working correctly means my hardware is bad? I'm not doing another factory reset and I'm not taking the phone to verizon, what I want is an explanation from google stating that they messed up and released a faulty bug ridden update, and for then to give us a time frame estimate on when a fix will be available! :(

Have you tried the larger update file from the circus thread? It's the first stop panacea for most lag and redraw issues.

I stress most. If you haven't, try it. It can't hurt. And if it does lock you in a boot loop, take it to Verizon and tell them their update broke your phone. Dozens of people, if not hundreds or more, have tried this method and found it satisfactory. It's even recovered phones to full working status that Verizon had said were beyond repair. If you don't believe me, try clicking that search button hidden in the upper right corner of the page you're looking at right now.

Also, since this method has been suggested for basically every problem since the rollout with the larger file began, and you haven't tried it yet, that falls under the heading of "user error" which is beyond our control.

Finally, if you don't like the attitude of the mods and the other people who are trying to help you, please feel free to go demand a full refund of all your hard-earned money that you spent on the support you've received so far from this site. If you ask loudly enough, you might even get it doubled.

I will happily provide a link to the download and provide install instructions if you are willing to try to install the larger update file yourself. I've done it many times before and I'm more than willing to do it again.

Whatever you do, good luck with your phone.

I'd have to say, the phone sucks big time with 2.2. The touch screen sensitivity is non existent. I'd say 90% of the time I have to do a double-swipe or double-tap to get anywhere. Scrolling between home screens it only notices my first swipe 10% of the time, like it needs to wake up or something.

The only difference is the OS, didn't install any new apps. Finger pressure is the same as it's always been and the same on my second swipe, when it works correctly. I noticed this immediately after the update and was hoping it would just clear up. A week later and it's exactly the same. Done battery pulls, resets, still no better.

Try doing a manual install of the large file from the circus thread. It seems to cure over 90% of all issues associated with the 2.2 update, especially lag, force closures, and unresponsiveness.

Would you have a link to said thread? I searched circus and didn't come up with anything
