Reading through this thread is frustrating because there is a lot of misinformation... I mean, in what scenario will the FRG22D patch overwrite your custom recovery program? SPRecovery and CM will block the patch. Are there even any custom recovery programs that don't block updates like this? The fact is, if you have a custom recovery program you cannot install this patch.

Depends on your version of root -- some people say any phone, no matter what else has been done to it, is not rooted without root access in the OS. Most people say that having a custom recovery image is more rooted than root access, and I subscribe that the theory of Root for a variety of reasons. Root access is root, but root is not root access.

Correct. However, this was just theory until Hookbill tested it and proved otherwise. Sometimes information available to the community as a whole changes radically inside an hour, and some people (I've been caught in this) are still going on the old information.

It actually has started a couple of days ago. Just like any other update it starts out slowly and then will reach everyone.
See in the picture how it says "drocap2 was granted..."?
You have to be rooted and be running an app called drocap2 to take screenshots without using a camera and an editing program.
I use Android SDK tools, works pretty well for non-rooted phones.

Sorry for the delay but duty called.
If you have a custom recovery image this update is out for you -- neither one will install it. If you are running a one-click root and don't have a custom recovery image you'll get it but you'll lose root.
And yes, it has been answered.
