****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

Can someone tell me why like every 4 days, I have to "install" it so it can be aborted by my ROM? Should it not be one and done? At 1st I thought maybe it was the 2nd update being thrown at me but... this is the 4th time so?
What ROM are you running? BB is supposed to be updated soon, same with UD, and hopefully the build will read FRG01B so the update stops trying to drop.

Grr. Never even thought about that. Blocks the install so still running older version. Verizon sees that and repushes it.

I just installed the large file version and it ROCKS! No problems at all! THANKS for all the information that made it so easy.

One question...Astro will NOT let me move the flash .apk from the sd card to system. What gives?? Is there a trick??

Paul

So astro is on the market but is there a trusted flash version with instructions?

No place on the market to get an app to change the notification bar color.
Astro -- yes, and it's free. Also does app backup.

Flash -- I'll provide you with a link to the .apk so you can download and install it if you wish.

Taskbar -- that bites. If it's a deal breaker you'll have to root, otherwise you can live with it or try an alternative launcher to see if one of them might allow you to change the color. ADW might, Launcherpro might. Helix had issues with FroYo last I knew. This may have changed.

Yea! I'll take that link when ever you can. Is the install easy? And il hold off on customizing the notification bar till I'm more familiar with all this

Mammal rocks

If the link in the FAQ Answer post to Flash is dead or incorrect, let me know and I'll fix it. :)

@xkape
Ergo why UD and BB in particular are having issues. I thought both were built from source, but I've heard plenty of reports they're hacked stock ROMs. The difference is built-from-source ROMs sync up to the latest AOSP code before any release while the hacked ROMs are hacked every single time from the latest stock release. There are advantages and disadvantages to each method, but built-from-source ROMs usually don't have the nag-screen problem unless someone forgot to disable that bit of code in the build. :)

@plongson
You don't need to move the .apk, just open it within Astro and let it install. Once it's installed you can move the installed data to the SD card if it's enabled in Flash to let it do that.

alphawave7, I don't think the link in the FAQ thread for Flash is the latest version -- the official one for the N1 that dropped so recently. Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

appreciate the help!

FWIW - my wife's Droid was updated Saturday morning; I'm still awaiting the OTA - we're in Colorado (again, for what it's worth).

OK, finally am impatient enough with Verizon that I'm going to manually install 2.2 - and I think I've read enough of this forum to make an attempt here.

From what I've read, it sounds like downloading the 'full' version (75.6MB) is a slightly healthier solution than the 45MB patch upgrade that Verizon is pushing out.

If I understand correctly, that full version is:

9046f5a3ec09.signed-voles-ota-45394.zip

Now, to install, do I rename this 'update.zip', place it on my root of my SD card, reboot into stock recovery mode and install, per instructions found in places such as:

[How-To] Force the Official Android 2.2 Froyo Update for the Motrola Droid (FRG01B | Update 1 of 2) - Android Forums

(my basic question is whether I need to rename this file to 'update.zip')

Yes...perhaps just update, as it's already a compressed .zip file. Use a file manager ala Astro to verify in root, that it is called update and is a compressed .zip file. Good luck! :)
