****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

Finally gave in and manually updated with the smaller file. Still trying to figure out everything that changed.

I really don't know much about what that quadrant app does but my phone went from 300 something to 820 after the update. It's not rooted or anything. Still don't know what that means but I assume its faster.

Much. Changing apps will be much quicker for you now, as will most things that require intensive CPU work.

so can I assume I will be receiving the OTA tonight or was the 18th never a solid date in the first place.

It was solid, but it's changed. There's no guarantee you'll get the OTA as some people will have to go into the store to get it done manually anyway.

Where did that info come from, that some will never get the ota?? Must have missed it.

Some phones will be left out. It's the law of averages; there's always some margin of error, however small. The majority of phones left out of an update will be amongst people who don't know/care that there's an update, so they go unnoticed. However, out of 100,000 members, the odd are that at least one will be left out.

Is this the big (complete) non-upgrade fresh-install rom that turns my phone into a flying car and a steam powered tricycle with phone capabilities?

No, sorry. It just gives you a rocket pack, small nuclear reactor, and free cookies. Maybe next time, but I'm told that's the free ray gun and holographic keyboard.

Hi. Got my update yesterday, I'm in CT. Things look diff, but OK except my gmail calendor is gray. It no longer shows my events unless I go to the 7week view. Can't find a fix or thread discussing it!

The small update file I did manually today seems a little laggy. Will redoing the update with the large file speed this up? Can I re do it with the large file? And where can I find the large file?

I'm still waiting :icon_evil:

I could try to install manually....but why should I HAVE to? Big Red needs to get better organized!

Besides, I'm scared I might brick my phone (although I had a custom ROM on my WM phone-but I was comfortable working with Windows both mobile and PC).

I'm not usually a hater, but seeing everyone else getting it.....I feel like the kid who is picked last on the school yard.

You don't have to. You also don't have to wait if you don't choose to.

It's virtually impossible to brick your phone installing these files. The failsafes involved are incredible, but a messed up install could happen. This does not mean you bricked it -- and it doesn't mean it won't happen when VZW pushes the update to your phone. In either case, either fix it or get it replaced. You will have support from many people here, willing to help talk you through the install if you need help. You will also have many people backing you up if you choose not to install it.

Either way, good luck. :)
