****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

Got my notice for update at 8:00 Central Time
Rockford, IL 61103
Owned the phone since Mid Dec.

I'm running BBv0.4, and ran his OTA Blocker...
I didn't think I'd even see the update?
Oh well, I'll figure it out tomorrow, I guess
I'm still on page 120, we'll see how many more pages are added while I sleep

Night all!
Looks like two at this point :) I'm guessing his blocker might not work, then. That's the problem with ROMs built on old code. He swears 5 is coming out soon, though, so it might only be another couple of days... :)

When 2.1 came out, I really think I was the last person on earth for their cell to get updated. I figured when 2.2 installed on the phone I'd end up with a bricked phone. But...

Today I got the OTA 2.2 on my Moto Droid. Went quickly and so far everything seems to work ok. The new launch drawer was SLOW for the first hour. I wasn't sure it would ever be able to scroll. But then it was ok and even Pandora is running well for me.

I think I like the dots on either side of the phone, drawer, browser. Easier to me than to swipe to different home screens.

But I only have 5 apps that will move to the SD card.

I haven't had time to check all the ring tones and notification tones to see if mine are all still there. And I haven't tried all my stuff.

All in all, so far I give it a thumbs up.

Well, I finally got 2.2 and am pleased with the performance so far. I thought 2.2 was going to have wireless tethering? Guess not?
To quote from my forthcoming guide:

WHERE’S MY TETHERING! I WAS TOLD FROYO WOULD LET ME WIFI TETHER MY LAPTOP/COMPUTER/PSP/XBOX/TOOTHBRUSH/BLENDER/TOASTER!

Uhm.... Toothbrush? Okay, no. Not so sure about the blender either, but the toaster... Symbian-based toaster announced! | Symbian Blog

Anyway, no. You were told wrong or heard old news. Tethering is supported by FroYo but isn’t mandatory. This update gives you official USB tethering at a cost of (reportedly) $15 a month on top of your data access plan. Wireless/WiFi tethering is not and never will be enabled unless you a, root, or b, Verizon changes its mind. I’m thinking b just ain’t gonna happen, folks, so don’t get your hopes up.

I think Verizon pushed out to everyone today - I just got it and hour ago, Chicago.

Still waiting and I'm gonna snap. I've tried numerous times to do a manual update too, but I always get an error. People say its from a bad download. Well I must have tried this 15 times...
Have you tried PMing someone and taking it step-by-step? A guide I've written is being examined by a moderator before final posting, so that may be up before the night's over to help you out.

I don't really know who to PM, but thanks for replying. I've rooted my Droid before so I'm pretty sure I'm doing the steps correctly. Basically I download the 2.2 file and save it to my computer. Its renamed so its 'update.zip' as Windows automatically adds the '.zip.' I place it on the SD root and go into the recovery and it can never 'verify the file.' I've also tried doing the same exact thing with Astro directly on my Droid. I kept thinking I'll get the update OTA any minute, but I've been waiting for that for like 3 days now.

I have been playing with my old phone (now my fiances) since getting the froyo ota earlier this afternoon. It is running better, faster than ever. Download took forever, my house had spotty 3g coverage. It ran somewhat slow for about 10 minutes. Since then, perfect. My x is still faste obviously, but Froyo seems to be working excellent.

I believe this shows that wifi tethering is available but probably exclusive to Dx and above.

Are you running a stock recovery or SPRecovery/ClockworkMOD Recovery?

Am going to have visit Verizon...seems that Froyo (OTA) has really caused my phone to really malfunction. Did not speed it up, rather really slowed it down and became sluggish and jerky....so far nothing but a bad review of 2.2 from me.
