****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

Please forgive my ignorance, I haven't been here in a while. I just received the prompt to update to FroYo, but I am rooted with FRG22. I was under the impression that I would not get the prompt, if I was already running FroYo. Should I just accept it and let SPRecovery block it? Like I said, please forgive my ignorance, this is the first OTA I have received, I have always just manually updated. Thanks

You can do that, but you'll get nagged again every few days.

What happened to silent mode? I got Froyo onto my Droid the other night and earlier today I went to the movies with my friends. I went to silence my phone when I realized that it stopped at vibrate. Is it no longer available or is there another way to silence it?

My silent mode function did not change....While phone is on, long press power button and I get "phone options: silent mode, airplane mode and phone off" just like before. Turning down the volume all the way works too.

I did all of the update.zip procedures and I still can not Text it locks up my phone. And it is still turning the phone off.
Okay, if you have your data backed up then you should do a factory reset. There's an option in the settings to do just that. Try it and see if your problems persist an hour after trying it, and if they do you should call Verizon. They'll probably talk you through the exact same thing, but if it works you've saved yourself the call.

Worst case scenario here is they'll replace your phone. Just don't tell them you did a manual update; it will complicate things because the person you're talking to might think you violated your warranty when you didn't.

I have same problem as other guy. Turning volume all the way down just goes to vibrate. no option for silent other than holding down power button

Or you could deactivate it in the settings>sound option. Set it to never vibrate or always vibrate when in silent mode. It prevents an issue, but it's less convenient.

If you go to Settings >> Sound >> Vibrate and set it to Never. Then you can run the ringer volume all the way down to nothing: Silent.

Got update, not impressed, very sluggish, ringtones all screwed up that's what I found so far. I waited for this!
How long have you waited? Has it been an hour yet? Have you rebooted the phone yet? Wait an hour after the update and reboot the phone. If you still have issues, you may need to do a manual update using the larger update file anyway to fix the issue, as both Hookbill and I have been advocating for the last week.

FWIW, I just got it over WiFi. I had asked several times if I would get it since I live in a VZW "Extended Area". It came in fine on the house WiFi and seems great.
